Boldings report

BOLDINGS REPORT  29/3/11.

Alan Jones (Deggys) had top weight of the week at Boldings with the best of a trio of 100lbs plus winners. He drew peg 13 on the Sycamore on Thursday, the peg which produced a winner to paste last week-end, and Alan Put the bait to the test again, a test it passed with flying colours to the tune of 139-13-0. Fishing at 5 metres and in the side picked out carp to 8lbs for the Deggys rod.

Gary Morris was just short of the ton at Sycamore 37, his pellet at 10 metres and close in, producing carp to 7lbs and bream to 4lbs for a total of 99-10-0. Dave Barnard (Rod & Gun) finished a fish behind Gary with 94-3-0 at Sycamore 33, with last weeks double winner Andy Williams (Vespe) 4th with a Chestnut top score of 89-3-0.

Ian Hughes (Drennan NW) started the weeks proceedings with a win on Monday when the back pools were used. Ian won from Middle Pool peg 1, using shallow pellet at 10 metres to net 90-8-0 of carp to 5lbs.

Last Mondays winner Kevin Melville Maver (Total Angling) picked up second with a Deepdale top score of 62-0-0, which consisted of carp to 5lbs, together with skimmers, caught on pellet at 6metres at peg 6. Russ Allen (Oswestry) had 60-3-0 from Middle 3 for third and Kev Smith (Telford) was 4th on 46-12-0 at Deepdale 4.

Tony Foster (OB Wolves) headed the card on Wednesday, taking the lead at peg 48 on the Sycamore, where pellet at 6 metres and in the edge found carp to 6lbs and bream to 2lbs to give figures of 92-12-0.

Andy Williams was a close second with top weight from the Chestnut, 89-1-0, which fell to bread flake, fished at 12 metres.

Third went to Stafford rod John Wild when he scaled 74-3-0 at Sycamore 13, and back on the Chestnut Gary Morris (OBW) had 73-15-0 at peg 8 for 4th.

Jason Elwell (Pro-Line Wednesfield) was the second of the ton up winners when he posted 101-12-0 to win on Saturday. He was on peg 16 on the Larch, and found all his fish with maggot fished in the side, and included samples to 8lbs in his net.

Dave Craggs (Maver) was on the next peg, larch 15, and used the same tactics, but couldn’t keep up with Elwell, falling 23lbs short on 78-2-0 at the whistle.

Andy Williams was in the frame for the third time with yet another pool best, leading the way on the Chestnut again, this time with 70-11-0 at peg 30. Fourth man Ralph Johnson Bilston Ang Cent) was also on the Chestnut and had 57-1-0. Best on the Sycamore was Dave Barnard (Rod & Gun) on 56-7-0.

Sunday saw two weights over 100lbs, both from the Willows Pool. John Francis (R&G) had the best one, 116-4-0, which came to pellet at 4 metres and 6 metres, and was made up with carp to 6lbs and barbel to 1lb.

Tim Probert (OBW) had carp to 7lbs and barbel to 1lb, also on pellet, which he fished at 10 metres and in the margins, to weigh 105-6-0.

Ralph Johnson framed again, taking third with another Willows catch, 89-1-0, while fourth man Paul Mossman (Stockton) had his 74-2-0 from the Chestnut.
