Boldings report

Boldings report 25-6-14.

 

Top weight of the week at Boldings Pools came on the Monday open and fell to Colin Wozek [Matrix Total Angling] who established a 73lbs winning advantage by scaling 194-3-0. He was on Ash peg 7 and worked shallow caster keep a constant supply of carp from 1lb to 5lbs coming to the net.

          Over at peg 20 Scott Harding [PI Boldings] fished paste to attract carp to 8lbs for his second placed 121-4-0. Opposite the winner, on peg 14, Phil Shaw [PI Bold] put his name on third by weighing 111-6-0, with Dave Matson [Rod & Gun] close behind on 109-8-0.

 

          Peg 2 on the Willows Pool proved a winner on Wednesday for Paul Evans [PI Bold] when it responded to his caster and maggot feed. Working the bait at 5 metres, combined with close in tactics found carp to 4lbs and barbel to 3lbs which gave a final tally of 80-6-0.

          Over on peg 17 Mark Mountford [Shifnal] used paste at 5 metres to finish second with a net of carp to 6lbs totalling 58-3-0. Phil Shaw finished third again, he scaled 54-6-0 at peg 19, leaving Steph Davies [Weston Pools] to pick up 4th with his 43-3-0 at peg 9.

 

          Thursday saw another all ton frame, this time on the Sycamore, where Phil Foster [PI Bold] led the way from peg 22. Carp to 8lbs homed in on the corn and pellet fed at 5 metres as well as in the margins, and they were joined by bream to 3lbs, which helped the total weight to 159-7-0.

          Up at corner peg 4 Dave Hailey [PI Bold] opted for a shallow pellet approach, and had mostly carp from 1lb to 4lbs, but also included some tench of 4lbs in a net of 128-1-0.

          Last Sundays winner Gareth Emlyn [Oakengates Ang Cent] made it two Thursday thirds on the trot when he recorded a level 121-0-0 at peg 25, with last Wednesdays winner Bob Tromans [Fiery Holes] completing the frame with 117-2-0 at peg 13.

 

          Steve Roberts [Oak Ang Cent] was back to winning ways on Saturday when his was the only frame weight to come from the Larch Pool. Drawn on peg 6 he used maggot and pellet, close in to pick off 106-3-0 of carp to 7lbs to claim his win.

          Maggot and pellet also worked for Shane Rogers [Oak Ang Cent] when he fished it to each side of peg 13 on the Sycamore, where carp to 8lbs with barbel to 3lbs added up to 101-9-0.

          Shakespeare’s Mark Taylor collected third from Sycamore 35 where he had 94-10-0 to finish ahead of Colin Reynolds [Bilston Ang Cent] on 90-11-0 at peg 24.

 

          Dave Hailey [PI Bold] swapped his mid-week second for a week-end first on Sunday, when he made the most of island peg 23 on the Chestnut. Fishing shallow pellet again, Dave contacted carp to 7lbs on his way to his 131-1-0 winner.

          Round at peg 30 Andy Kyte [Maver Sonubaits] worked pellet and maggot, shallow and down the edge, to nick second by just over a pound. His net of 120-12-0 included carp to 8lbs, and held off a challenge from Mark Taylor, who had to settle for third again when he was credited with a Sycamore best of 119-10-0 at peg 18. Boldings report

Boldings report 16-6-14.

 

 

          It was Dave Matson [Rod & Gun] who claimed the coin on the Monday open at Boldings Pools this week with a pellet and corn in the margins approach at peg 6 on the Larch. Carp to 6lbs responded to the bait combo, and gave Dave an advantage of close on 20lbs when he totalled 80-4-0.

          Keith Powell [PI Boldings] also fished pellet and corn at peg 26, to finish second for the second Monday running. He offered it at 5 metres as well as down the side, and like the winner he had carp to 6lbs in his net of 61-1-0, which gave him the runner up prize. At peg 14 Phil Shaw [PI Bold] was a couple of pounds behind second on 59-7-0and at point peg 16 Godfrey Wood [Total Angling] had 53-3-0 in 4th.

 

          On the Chestnut on Wednesday Bob Tromans [Fiery Holes] omitted the corn to just fish pellet at peg 30 on the Chestnut, and had carp to 6lbs with bream  to 2lbs, which returned a total of 76-6-0 and gave Bob top prize.

          Across on peg 6 Mick Jameson [PI Bold] had a similar mix of fish on pellet at 5 metres and in the margins to finish second on 70-6-0. Up in the corner at peg 40 Mick Keene [Weston Pools] netted 65-7-0 to finish third and at peg 21 Tony Foster [PI Bold] put his name on fourth by weighing 63-8-0.

 

          Top weight of the week came on Thursday, and was recorded by Andy Williams [Colmic Vespe]. He combined maggot and corn at peg 21 on the Sycamore, taking his fish, carp to 8lbs and bream to 3lbs, from each side of the peg. At the whistle Andy had 113-5-0 in his net to finish clear of Steve Roberts [Oakengates Ang Cent]. He was on Chestnut 18 and used maggot and corn for 89-8-0 of carp to 6lbs and barbel to 3lbs.

Last Thursdays winner Gareth Emlyn [Oak Ang Cent]finished 2lbs behind second on 87-6-0 at Chestnut 35, and back on the Sycamore Paul Evans [PI Bold] scaled 75-2-0 at peg 4.

 

          The Sycamore provided the winner again on Saturday, with peg 13 topping a close frame for Jason Atwell. He fished corn to each side of the point to net 93-5-0 of carp to 6lbs and bream to 3lbs.

          On the Chestnut Pool Colin Reynolds [Bilston Ang cent] worked pellet and corn, offering it at 4 metres and down the side, to catch a similar stamp of carp to those of the winner, together with bream to 2lbs. At the finish he could have done with one more of his fish to have been a carp, finishing the day on 90-7-0. Only three ounces behind second was Mondays winner dave Matson on 90-4-0 at Chestnut 30, while at Chestnut 13 Mark Mountford [Shifnal] was 4th on 83-14-0.

 

          After his third place on Thursday Gareth Emlyn moved up to first on Sunday, Making it two Sunday wins in succession. Last Sunday he was on the Chestnut, this time he drew Oak peg 5, where the maggot attack was successful again, attracting carp to 7lbs, which added up to 102-2-0 for a narrow victory.

          Dave Hailey [PI Bold] was on Oak peg 8, and kept the pressure on the winner right up to the whistle with a shallow pellet approach. His fish ran a little smaller, with samples to 5lbs giving a final tally of 100-9-0. Mick Jameson made the list again, with a third placed 88-7-0, which put him just ahead of a tie for fourth between Kel Emlyn [Oak Ang Cent] and Thursdays fourth man Paul Evans.
