Boldings report

BOLDINGS REPORT  8/3/11.

The sheltered pools were used on a windy Monday at Boldings with the Deepdale and Hawthorn each producing two frame weights.

Eric Bancroft (Rod & Gun) fished pellet at 8 metres and maggot in the side at Deepdale peg 14 to pick off carp to 5 lbs and skimmers to 2lbs to establish a 20lbs advantage, wining with 85-5-0.

Gary Morris OB (Wolves) stuck with pellet, fishing at 5 metres and 9 metres to net carp to 4lbs at peg 3 on the Hawthorn for 65-0-0. Phil Shaw (Lower Hill) was on peg 10 on the Deepdale where 59-11-0 gave him third and back on the Hawthorn Kevin Melville (Maver Total Angling) had 45-1-0 for 4th.

Pete Ricketts (New Willenhall) made it two Tuesday wins in a row when he tempted 76-1-0 with pellet to win. Peg 1 on the Larch gave him the win last week, this time he drew number 1 again, but on the Ash, and took some of his catch fishing on the deck and some from up in the water. Carp to 4lbs and chub to 2lbs featured.

Carp and skimmers on pellet at 10 metres and close in at Deepdale 6 gave Alan Jones (Deggys) 63-6-0 for second. Mick Jameson (Mid Leisure) made the first of three frame appearances in the week when his 55-12-0 from Deepdale 14 gave him third, ahead of Dave Barnard (R&G) on 51-2-0 at Ash 9.

Steve Hall made the trip down from Oswestry pay off on Thursday when he headed a fairly close frame from peg 22 on the Larch. Pellet at 8 metres and corn in the side gave figures of 45-5-0, enough to hold off Mondays winner Eric Bancroft, who had ghosties to 4lbs on pellet at 12 metres for 42-0-0 at Willows peg 5.

Jeff Harston (Wrexham) had top weight on the Sycamore, 38-8-0 from peg 6 to pick up third, with Danny Boden (R&G) close behind on 37-11-0 at Sycamore 48.

Mick Jameson was back in the prize list on Saturday, claiming the top one with 57-8-0 from Ash 14. Alternating between 5 metres and in the margins with pellet he found carp to 6lbs to ease clear of the rest.

Thursdays winner Steve Hall was back in the cash with a Larch best of 41-9-0 for second, just ahead of Alan Naylor (Oakengates Ang Cent) on 40-14-0 at Ash 5.

Fourth went to an Oak best of 39-4-0 from peg 24 by Jamie Potts (OBW).

Less than two pounds covered the top three on Sunday and only four ounces separated first and second. Narrow winner Mick Foan (Telford) fished close in at peg 7 on the Willows to find carp to 4lbs, ending with 51-4-0. Over on the Chestnut John Wild (Stafford|) presented pellet to the island at peg 23 and in the channel for a catch of small carp which took the scales to 51-0-0.

Third also came from the Chestnut when Mick Jameson completed his trio of frame placings. He weighed in 49-6-0 at peg 36, then back on the Willows Jeff Harston was back in the frame, collecting 4th thanks to 41-15-0 from peg 16.
