Boldings report

Boldings Report 22/9/09

Colin Reynolds (Bilston Angling Centre) has been notching up a list of wins at Boldings Pools over the summer months, and had his best week so far at the complex this week, enjoying no less than three first places and a third.

The Willows Pool must rate as Colin’s favourite, as all three victories came from there, starting on Monday when 78-4-0 from peg 8 put him well clear of the field. Pellet at 4 metres saw the Bilston ace netting carp to 7lbs and ghosties to 3lbs.

Phil Rhodes (OB Wolves) fished the 6 metre line with pellet at Willows 17 for 54-7-0 to fill second place, ahead of Karl Haywood (Sedgeley Lions) who was top man on the Oak Pool with 51-3-0 at peg 5. Fourth also came from the Oak when Phil Shaw (Lower Hill) put 46-9-0 on the scales at peg 8.

Mel Kitson (Rod & Gun) took a turn at the top of the frame on Wednesday when he made the most of a draw on point peg 13 on the Sycamore. Paste and corn, fished at 5 metres and in the side did the damage, with carp to 8lbs adding up to 81-4-0.

Ralph Johnson (Bilston Ang Cent) offered pellet to each side of peg 6 on the Chestnut to net carp to 6lbs and bream to 3lbs to end the day on 62-3-0.

Brian Clarke (Maver Midlands) finished in third with 58-8-0 from the Sycamore, and 37-2-0 gave Mick Jameson (Mid Leisure) 4th.

Top weight of the week came on Thursday when peg 13 on the Sycamore provided the winner again, this time for Kevin Melville (Dorset Pools) who fished pellet, down the shelf, to each side of the peg, for a succession of carp to 8lbs, which gave a final total of 124-9-0.

Carl Foster (OBW) also caught well at Sycamore 42. He fished pellet at 5 metres and corn close in to find carp to 9 lbs and bream to 4lbs to finish just off the ton with 99-10-0.

Colin Reynolds collected his third prize on this match, scaling 75-9-0 at Sycamore 22, and a Chestnut top score of 75-6-0 gave Ed Turner (OBW) fourth overall.

Colin Reynolds was back at the top on Saturday when pellet at 6 metres and corn in the edge at Willows peg 5 saw him netting carp to 7lbs for a 70-8-0 winning total.

Mark Stevens (Sonubaits) went out to 12 metres with pellet peg 38 on the Chestnut to find carp and skimmers, with close on half of his 63-1-0 consisting of skimmers.

Ralph Johnson framed again, picking up third with 59-9-0 at Chestnut 14. Fourth came from the Willows when Keith Miller scaled 54-11-0 at peg 9.

Reynolds rounded off a great week with his third win of the week after drawing Willows peg 17 on Sunday. Carp between one pound and four pounds responded to pellet on the 4 metre line, with better fish, samples to 7lbs, coming to corn in the side, which helped Colin to 67-5-0.

Over at peg 5 Steve Roberts (R&G) was left needing a couple more fish when he saw the scales settle at 60-4-0, having caught close in on corn and pellet. Close behind Steve was Jamie Langford (OBW) on 58-2-0 at Willows 20, and just behind him was Graham Roberts (OBW) with a Chestnut top score of 56-2-0.

Boldings report

Boldings Report 22/9/09

Visiting Weston Pools rod Jeff Harston finished second on the Wednesday open at Boldings Pools last week, and went one better this week, as he took the top weight of the week at Boldings to win the Wednesday open from peg 7 on the Ash Pool.

Jeff put his shallow pellet expertise to good use to bag a succession of carp in the 1lb to 5lb class, which saw him ease ahead of the opposition, finishing on 107-4-0.

Boldings regular Mick Jameson (Mid Leisure) found carp down the shelf at 5 metres on peg 18 on the Ash, but although he had bigger fish than the winner, with samples to 7lbs, he finished 23 lbs behind on 85-4-0.

Gary Morris (OB Wolves) netted 77-9-0 at Ash 16 for third, and a Beech best of 58-1-0 gave Bob Tromans (Fiery Holes) 4th overall.

Colin Reynolds (Bilston Ang Cent) was another angler to convert a runner up spot to a win as he moved up from second on last Mondays open to add another victory to his list by taking top spot on Monday this week. Drawn on peg 8 on the Oak, he worked with corn and pellet at 4 metres to tempt carp to 8lbs, which added up to 88-5-0.

On the opposite bank, at peg 23 Martin Travis (MS Total Angling) fished open water with shallow pellet, and close in with corn to record 79-12-0 for second. Harry Colley (OBW) was back in the Monday frame with a third best of 65-11-0 at Oak 5 and Mick Williams (Telford) had 65-3-0 from peg 1 for 4th.

Eric Bancroft (Rod & Gun) didn’t improve on his Thursday placing of last week, but he didn’t need to , as this weeks win was a repeat of last weeks.

This time Eric was on Sycamore 13, having won from peg 49 last time out, and topped the ton again with 104-12-0, taken on pellet and corn, fished to each side of the point.

Kevin Melville (Dorset Pools) had another placing to his credit with 69-4-0 on pellet and corn at Chestnut peg 7 for second. Back on the Sycamore, Mel Kitson (R&G) scaled 63-6-0 at peg 42 for third and Graham Roberts (OBW) had 60-9-0 to take 4th at peg 46.

Peg 13 on the Sycamore came up trumps again on Saturday, with shallow pellet tactics doing the business for Pete Ricketts (New Willenhall). Carp to 8bs responded to the bait, giving Pete a final total of 97-3-0, which gave a 21lb advantage over John Francis (R&G) who finished second for the second Saturday on the trot.

John was on Sycamore peg 2 and fished three lines, taking fish down the shelf, up in the water and in the margins, all on pellet. At the whistle he had a level 76-0-0.

Kevin Melville framed again, taking third with 67-0-0 at Sycamore 33, leaving Ralph Johnson (Bilston Ang Cent)  to collect 4th with a Larch best of 49-10-0.

On Sunday exactly 20lbs separated Baggeridge rods Darren Painter and Terry Slater, who both drew on the Willows Pool.

Darren was the winner, netting 87-5-0 at peg 9, by alternating shallow pellet with corn in the margins to contact carp to 6lbs. Terry fished pellet at 6 metres on peg 5, alternating with a close in approach, also with pellet. He found carp to 5lbs and finished on 67-5-0. John Francis picked up again, putting the best weight of the day from the Oak on the scales, to record 66-5-0 at peg 31 for third overall, ahead of Dave Jones (Oswestry) on 64-1-0 at Oak peg 13.

Boldings report

Boldings Report 16/9/09

Carl Foster (OB Wolves) collected the coin on the Monday open at Boldings when he led a Chestnut Pool frame with 79-8-0. Fishing short pole at 2 and 4 metres to offer pellet at peg 4, Carl found carp to 6lbs and bream to 3lbs to make his winning catch.

Colin Reynolds (Bilston Ang Cent) kept his run of form going with a second placed 73-14-0 from peg 17. His fish, all carp to 7lbs, also came to pellet, which Colin fished down the shelf, and to each side of the peg.

Eric Bancroft (Rod & Gun) collected third when he scaled 66-4-0 at peg 7, and Colin Wozak (Telford was back in the frame, taking 4th with 52-5-0 at peg 30.

Andy Williams (Vespe) made the most of a draw on the point on the Beech Pool on Wednesday to claim top spot with a corn and maggot fed 88-12-0, made up with carp to 7lbs, which came from each side of the point.

Over on the Ash, Jeff Harston (Wrexham) fished into open water with shallow pellet, alternated with close in tactics to net a lot of carp from 1lb to 4lbs, finishing with 80-11-0 at peg 18. The Beech provided gary Morris (OBW) with 75-14-0 for third at peg 5, and back on the Ash, Mel Kitson (R&G) scaled 68-14-0 for 4th at peg 6.

Thursday saw a jump in weights and Eric Bancroft in the frame again, this time taking the main prize. He was on peg 49 on the Sycamore and attracted carp to 9lbs with bream to 3lbs using paste and corn. Plenty of fish responded to Eric figures of 131-12-0 at the end of the match.

John Wild (Stafford) was also busy at peg 13, fishing pellet to both sides of the point to net 126-1-0 of carp to 8lbs.

Colin Reynolds was in the frame again, this time in third place with 87-5-0 from peg 8, and Carl Foster also put in his second appearance, finishing the day on 80-0-0 for 4th at peg 39.

Saturday saw another Sycamore frame, and it was peg 8 which came up with the winner this time around, with carp and bream featuring again. Simon Jukes (OBW) was the man at the top, and he tempted the fish with both shallow pellet, and corn close in, to net 111-5-0.

Peg 49 featured again but didn’t show its mid week form for John Francis (R&G) who fished pellet at 3 metres for 64-6-0 of carp to 6lbs and bream to 2lbs. Keith Miller (New Willenhall) picked up third thanks to 53-8-0 at peg 46 and Tony Foster (OBW) had 46-14-0 form peg 13 to finish 4th.
