BOLDINGS REPORT  22/3/11.

Weights continued to climb at Boldings Pools this week, with three matches being won with ton up catches, two of which fell to Andy Williams (Vespe).

The week started with another victory for (Kevin Melville (Maver Total Angling) when the Monday match was staged on the Oak Pool. Kev drew peg 18, where pellet fished at 10 metres and in the side put 53-13-0 of carp to 6lbs on the scales.

Up at the other end of the pool Ed Turner (OB Wolves) worked pellet at 5 metres and in the side at peg 5 to find carp to 7lbs for 49-6-0 to pick up second, ahead of Gary Morris (OBW) on 45-8-0 at peg 24 and Phil Shaw (Lower Hill) on 38-12-0.

Brian Clarke (Maver) made his way to the top of the list on Wednesday, winning from peg 7 on the Ash Pool with a pellet based 68-1-0. Brian made contact with carp to 6lbs and skimmers to 1lb, fishing at 10 metres and close in.

Mick Jameson (Mid Leisure) followed up four frame places last week with another two this week, starting with second spot on this match, not far behind the winner on 66-15-0 at Ash 14. He also caught on pellet, offering the bait at 12 metres as well as close in.

Mick Jameson finished second again, some distance adrift this time, when he put 73-13-0 on the scales at Chestnut 23, having caught carp to 3lbs on pellet, fished to the island.

Eric Bancroft (Rod & Gun) led the catches on the Willows Pool, taking 65-12-0 from peg 13 to finish third overall, only just ahead of Alan Jones (Deggys) on 65-8-0 at Willows 8.

Andy was top man again on Saturday, this time from the Larch Pool, where the tactics which did him proud on Thursday worked a treat again. Carp to 9lbs responded this time for a final weight of 120-11-0 at peg 15.

Eric Bancroft moved up a place from Thursday, taking second with a Sycamore top score of 98-9-0 at peg 33. Pellet, both close in and at 10 metres accounted for carp to 7lbs and bream to 3lbs.

There was a bit of a drop to the third weight, which was taken by Josh Humphries (ABC / Oswestry) who recorded 55-9-0 at Sycamore 47. Mondays winner Kevin Melville picked up fourth with a Willows best of 53-14-0, which was just 2 ounces ahead of a Chestnut best of 53-12-0 by Keith Powell (OBW).

Jason Elwell (Pro Star Wednesbury) became the third winner of the week to record over 100lbs when he took the honours on Sunday with the first paste based top catch of the year.

Drawn 13 on the Sycamore, Jason offered his paste at 4 metres, and in the margins to net carp to 9lbs on his way to 113-10-0.

Dave Hailey (OBW) fished at 6  metres and close in with pellet for 82-14-0 at Sycamore 49 to fill the runner up spot.
