Boldings report

BOLDINGS REPORT  15/3/11.

Having finished second on Monday last week, Gary Morris (OB Wolves) finished some way ahead of the rest on the Sycamore Pool on Monday this week at Boldings Pools. He was on corner peg 6 and had a haul of 81-7-0 to more than double the runner up weight.

That came from Kevin Melville (Maver Total Angling) who moved up from third last Monday to claim second with 36-12-0 at another corner peg, 16. At peg 47 Phil Shaw (Lower Hill) had 27-9-0 for third and Godfrey Wood (Total Angling) had 19-13-0 at peg 1 for 4th.

Carl Foster (OBW) staked his claim to the winners purse on Wednesday by bagging 80-2-0 of carp to 6lbs fishing pellet at 4 metres and in the side at peg 30 on the Chestnut.

Ian Hughes (Drennan NW) fished to the island and close in with pellet at peg 23 and had over 80 small carp for 70-8-0 to take second. Pete Ricketts (New Willenhall) scaled 59-2-0 for third at peg 36. Over on the Middle Pool Mick Jameson (Mid Leisure) had top weight for the first of three frame appearances, picking up 4th with 53-11-0.

Mick Jameson moved up to first place on Thursday when he recorded the top weight of the week. Pegged on the Oak Pool at peg 29, he was kept busy fishing pellet at 10 metres catching carp from 1lb to 3lbs and barbel to 1lb, which gave a total of 84-12-0.

Alan Jones (Deggys)  headed the Chestnut list to finish second overall, having caught carp to 6lbs and bream to 2lbs on pellet fished at 3 metres and 8 metres, for a final weight of 77-14-0 at peg 32. Third went to Dave Matson (Rod & Gun) at Oak peg 8 where he scaled 71-5-0 and at Chestnut 30, Pete Ricketts framed again when a level 67-0-0 gave him 4th.

Dave Craggs (Maver) was the first of the week-end winners when he posted 66-0-0 on the Saturday match. Pegged 21 on the Chestnut, he fished in the margins with maggot to pick off mostly small carp, assisted by the occasional bonus fish of around 4lbs.

Behind the winner there was a scramble for the remaining places, with only 4lbs between 2nd and sixth weights. Mick Jameson put in his third appearance when grabbed second with a Sycamore best of 43-0-0 at peg 16, seven ounces behind second was Dave Matson (R&G) on 42-9-0 at Chestnut 30 and Kevin Melville was there again, taking 4th with 41-3-0 from Chestnut 17.

Mick Jameson registered his second win of the week by topping the Sunday card by a narrow margin. He was on Chestnut 32 and alternated between fishing at 10 metres and close with pellet. Carp to 7lbs and barbel to 1lb obliged for a final tally of 61-5-0, just enough to hold off Eric Bancroft (R&G) who was on Willows peg 17. He caught at 12 metres, bagging carp to 5lbs using pellet, to scale 60-8-0.

At Willows peg 5 John Francis (R&G) netted 58-1-0 to pick up third and just behind him, Kev Sudlow (Oswestry) had 57-6-0 at Chestnut 21 for 4th.
