Boldings report

Boldings Report 27/10/09

Eric Bancroft (Rod & Gun) Improved on his second place on the Monday open at Boldings last week to add another win to his list, having won last Thursday.

The Oak Pool proved to slower than usual and Eric won with 36-2-0, which he took on shallow fished pellet at peg 27, with carp from 1lb to 3lbs making up the catch.

Up at the corner of the dam wall at peg 1 Chris Holmes (Bridgnorth AS) had carp to 5lbs on pellet at 5 metres and in the margins for his second placed 32-4-0, which was closely followed by 31-0-0 from Phil Shaw (Lower Hill) at peg 31, and he had Mick Williams (Telford) hard on his heels with 30-8-0 at peg 13.

Gary Morris (OB Wolves) fed corn at 5 metres and 8 metres at peg 16 on the Beech on Wednesday to attract carp to 7lbs, which helped him to put together a 78-5-0 net, which was too good for last weeks Wednesday winner Ralph Johnson (Bilston Ang Cent). Ralph was on Ash peg 17 where he worked pellet up in the water and on the deck at 14 metres for 62-4-0 of carp to 5lbs.

Bob Tromans (Fiery Holes) had 52-6-0 from peg 12 on the Ash for third, and Mick Jameson (Mid Leisure) had a level 48-0-0 at beech 26 to pick up 4th.

Howard Williams (Weston Pools) made the move from 4th last Thursday to first this week when peg 6 on the Chestnut provided him with 60-3-0 of carp to 7lbs. Howard fished pellet to the margins at each side of the peg, and into open water at 8 metres to keep the fish coming to the net.

Gary Morris was in the frame again, finishing second this time with a mix of carp to 6lbs and bream to 3lbs, caught on pellet at peg 13 on the Sycamore. Third went to John Wild (Stafford) when he scaled 46-6-0 at Chestnut 32, and at Chestnut 16, Graham Roberts (OBW) had 36-13-0 for 4th.

The Monday winner from last week, Colin Reynolds (Bilston Ang Cent) shared first on Saturday this week with Neil Turner (Wolves) when they each posted a weight of 83-8-0. Both were on the Stock Pool, Colin at peg 7, where he caught carp to 7lbs, close in on corn, and Neil was on peg 10, where he operated with caster, fished shallow, and close in for fish of a similar stamp.

Daren Painter (Baggeridge) was also on the Stock, netting a level 79-0-0 for third, while an Ash Pool best of 76-4-0 gave Dave Brown (Maver) 4th.

Gareth Emlyn (Oakengates Ang Cent) claimed his second successive Sunday win at Boldings, and it was maggot, fished in the side that did the trick again. This time Gareth was on the Ash Pool, and found carp to 6lbs to build a 72-7-0 winner.

Dave Barnard (R&G) headed the Sycamore card to take second, using pellet at 5 metres to net an even 60-0-0 at peg 36.

Mick Jameson was in the frame again, putting a Willows best of 57-4-0 on the scales for third, with Rob Cooksey (Maver) collecting 4th with 53-8-0 from Ash peg

Boldings report

Boldings Report 14/10/09

Colin Reynolds (Bilston Ang Cent) was back at the top of the Monday list at Boldings Pools this week, storming to victory with easily the best catch of the week, after drawing peg 7 on the Beech Pool.

Tempting carp to 8lbs with pellet at 7 metres from the point, Colin dropped a steady supply of fish into the net through the match to end the day on 107-5-0.

In the corner at peg 3 Eric Bancroft (Rod & Gun) also offered pellet, fishing to the paddles and at 7 metres, but found a smaller stamp of fish, with samples to 5 lbs adding up to 61-4-0 to give him second.

Half way up the spit, at peg 5 Phil Shaw (Lower Hill) had 43-7-0 in third and Phil Rhodes (OB Wolves) had a level 37-0-0 at peg 18 for 4th.

Ralph Johnson (Bilston Ang Cent) staked his claim to the winners purse at peg 7 on the Stock Pool on Wednesday by posting a weight of 80-5-0, which consisted of carp to 6lbs, caught on pellet, fished shallow at 5 metres and in the edge.

Mick Jameson (Mid Leisure) employed the same tactics at peg 8 on the Middle pool to find carp to 7lbs. There were less of them though, and Mick had to settle for second with 56-2-0. The two corner pegs at the other end of the Middle Pool gave the remaining frame places, with Stuart Aston (OBW) getting third thanks to 54-9-0 at peg 1, leaving Mel Kitson (R&G) completing the line up with 52-12-0 at peg 11.

Eric Bancroft converted his second on Monday to a first on Thursday when his Sycamore  Pool net of 62-12-0 from peg 22, was too good for a trio of weights from the Chestnut. Eric’s catch was made up with carp to 7lbs which came to pellet, up in the water at 7 metres, alternated with close in.

Leader of the three framers on the Chestnut was Ed Turner (OBW) who had 57-11-0 on pellet, fished to the island and 4 metres at peg 21. Over at peg 8 Denis Whitehouse (West End) scaled 47-12-0 in third and Howard Williams (Weston Pools) had 45-8-0 at peg 35 for 4th.

The Sycamore provided the winner again on Saturday when Pete Ricketts (New Willenhall) worked pellet and corn with both waggler and leger tactics. He contacted carp to 8lbs to put together 60-4-0.

Last week-ends double winner John Francis (R&G) took second with a Chestnut best of 50-9-0 at peg 35, then it was back to the Sycamore for third and fourth, with Paul Evans (Willis Worms) finishing 2lbs behind Francis with 48-9-0 at peg 5, leaving Harry Colley (OBW) to round things off with 43-14-0 at peg 33.

Sunday gave the tightest frame, with the top four weights all in the seventies, and the Chestnut finally getting the better of the Sycamore when Gareth Emlyn (Oakengates Ang Cent) claimed the laurels. He broke the pellet domination as well by feeding maggot in the side at peg 14 to pick off carp to 8lbs, which gave a final return of 78-8-0.

Dave Hailey (OBW) used shallow pellet and paste close in at peg 50 on the Sycamore to net 76-3-0 of carp to 7lbs to finish on 76-3-0, just getting ahead of Pete Ricketts, who famed again with a Willows best of 75-5-0 at peg 9. Mick Jameson also had his second time in the frame when he put a level 72-0-0 on the scales at Sycamore 13.

Boldings report

Boldings Report 14/10/09

John Francis (Rod & Gun) was top rod at Boldings Pools this week with a week-end double top.

The week started though with a win for Keith Powell (Wolverhampton) who took the honours on the Monday match with 62-13-0 from peg 3 on the Middle Pool, where he fished maggot in the margins to tempt carp to 7 lbs.

The Middle produced the next two weights as well, with Bob Tromans (Fiery Holes) claiming second with a corn and pellet based 53-8-0 at peg 8, which was followed by a level 53-0-0 from Karl Haywood (Sedgeley) at peg 11. Fourth placed Dave Barnard (R&G) had 51-9-0 which was the best on the hawthorn Pool.

The Ash Pool gave the best weight of the week on Wednesday when Tony Foster (OB Wolves) secured the main prize with a catch of carp in the 1lb to 3lbs bracket, which took the scales to 80-11-0. He was on peg 14 and fished pellet, up in the water and close in.

Bob Tromans was second again, this time with 56-12-0, which came to pellet at 5 metres at peg 9. Alf Taylor (OBW) had a level 43-0-0 at peg 18 for third, and Stuart Aston (OBW) completed the prize winners with 40-2-0 at peg 5.

Graham Roberts (OBW) converted a second on the Thursday open last week to a first this week after drawing peg 13 on the Sycamore. He alternated fishing the 5 metre line with close in tactics, and slipped the net under 70-3-0 of carp to 7lbs.

Ralph Johnson (Bilston Ang Cent)was over to the right of the winner on peg 33 where he alternated fishing shallow, and on the deck, with pellet to take carp to 6lbs for 62-4-0 and second spot. Fellow Bilston rod Colin Reynolds was close behind on 60-14-0, the best catch from the Chestnut, and last weeks winner John Wild (Stafford) was a close 4th on 59-15-0 at Sycamore 25.

John Francis stepped up to the mark for the first of his two wins on Saturday. Fishing pellet half way down the shelf at Chestnut peg 30 produced carp to 6lbs and final figures of 58-12-0.

Round at peg 1 Carl Foster (OBW) offered pellet and corn at 5 metres to net 55-7-0 for second. Karl Haywood had another third with 52-1-0 at peg 21 and Stuart Aston was 4th for the second time, weighing 48-8-0 at peg 36.

Francis finished clear of scramble for second place on Sunday when a trio of OB Wolves men filled the minor places.

‘Franner was on peg 38 on the Chestnut, and this time he fished pellet at 6 metres and at the bottom of the shelf, which brought carp to 8lbs and bream to 3lbs to the net for a final tally of 72-10-0.

Ed Turner was the best of the OBW rods, but only just. He had carp to 7lbs on pellet, 2 metres out at peg 33 on the Sycamore, finishing with 56-12-0, with gary Morris hard on his heels with 56-6-0 at Sycamore 49.

Over at peg 21 on the Chestnut Graham Evason scaled 51-8-0 in 4th.
