Boldings report

BOLDINGS REPORT 28/9/10.

Having finished second and third in two matches at Boldings last week, Colin Reynolds (Bilston Ang Cent) stepped up to top spot on Monday at the complex this week, winning from Stock Pool peg 2.

Pellet at 7 metres worked for Colin, to put carp in the net which gave a final weight of 89-15-0.

With a first and a fourth to his credit last week Eric Bancroft (Rod & Gun) added two more frame slots to his list this week, starting with a second on this match. He was on Stock peg 4 and had fish at 5 metres on pellet to record 74-15-0. Danny Boden (Oakengates Ang Cent) repeated his third place of last Saturday when he put 60-15-0 on the scales at Stock peg 11, with Graham Evason (OB Wolves) filling the final frame spot with his 52-4-0 from peg 1.

Martin Travis (Total Angling) finished second with over 100lbs from peg 16 on the Beech Pool last week, and had over 100lbs from the same peg on Wednesday this week. This time however, his was the only ton up catch, and he was rewarded with the winners purse.

Corn and pellet fished close in worked again for Martin, with carp to 7lbs coming to the net at regular intervals. His final weight was boosted to 118-15-0 by ‘Wide Load’ a common carp of 22-8-0, who was named by the late Jack Hailey, after he included the fish in a winning bag.

Ian Hughes (Drennan NW) was round on Beech 22 where he worked pellet shallow and close in for carp to 8lbs and a total of 96-15-0 for second. Last Wednesdays winner Gary Morris was third this time with an Oak Pool top score of 86-10-0 from peg 27, and next to him Mick Jameson (Mid Leisure) had 67-10-0 in fourth.

There was more success for Carl Foster (OB Wolves) on Thursday when once again he recorded the top weight of the week. After winning from the Beech Pool last week, this time he did it from the Sycamore, where he drew on point peg 13. Paste and pellet presented to each side of the point caught the interest of carp to double figures and bream to 3lbs, which combined to give Carl a winning tally of 150-2-0, the only frame weight from the pool.

Gary Morris moved up from third on the previous match to second on this one when he led three close weights from the Chestnut with 89-4-0. The catch, which featured carp to 7lbs, came from peg 9 and fell to pellet and corn at 5 metres and in the side.

Eric Bancroft made the payout again, his 86-10-0 at peg 5 gaining third prize, just ahead of fellow Rod & Gun man Dave Barnard on 85-15-0 at peg 21.

Ralph Johnson (Bilston Ang Cent) was a surprisingly easy winner on Saturday when the back up weights dropped away dramatically.

Ralph posted 80-5-0 with carp to 8lbs on corn in the side at Beech peg 9, and almost doubled the runner up weight of 41-11-0. That came from Andy Bayliss-Kyte (Maver Sonubaits) who must have been pleasantly surprised at Beech 29 to find the weight had won him second prize.

Just round at Beech 32 Dave Matson (R&G) picked up third with his 38-11-0 and Colin Reynolds was in the prize list again with a Chestnut best of 34-6-0 from peg 11.

There was nothing unlucky about peg 13 on the Willows Pool on Sunday when Andy Bayliss-Kyte staked his claim to the main prize from it to follow up his second spot the day before.

Alternating between 10 metres and close in with pellet, Andy put together 106-2-0 with carp to 5lbs.

At peg 7 on the Chestnut Ted Ecclestone (Stafford) combined pellet and bread to tempt carp to 8lbs on the close in line, but couldn’t tempt enough to challenge the winner and finished 20lbs behind on 86-6-0, while John Francis (R&G) made it three different pools in the first three places when he put the top catch from the Sycamore on the scales to record 79-2-0 at peg 39.

Colin Reynolds picked up for the third time when he took fourth with 77-8-0 at Willows peg 11.

Boldings report

BOLDINGS REPORT 21/9/10.

Carl Foster (OB Wolves) was in winning mode at Boldings Pools again on Monday, and posted another best weight of the week after drawing peg 11 on the Beech Pool. Pellet and corn, fished into the side to the right of the peg and into the corner on the left found carp to 9lbs ready to have go to give a winning total of 131-12-0.

Almost opposite Carl, Martin Davenport (Maver Total Angling) found carp to 8lbs on pellet and corn at peg 16, and topped the ton with 101-13-0 for second. Andy Williams (Vespe Total Angling) was on the point at peg 7 where he scaled 88-4-0 to pick up third ahead of Eric Bancroft (Rod & Gun) on 69-15-0 at peg 23.

Gary Morris (OB Wolves) found carp to 7lbs and bream to 2lbs on the 5 metre line at peg 43 on the Sycamore on Wednesday to win with a pellet fed 88-6-0.

Mick Jameson (Mid Leisure) finished second for the second Wednesday on the trot when his pellet at 3 metres on peg 33 put a mixture of carp to 8lbs and a lot of small barbel on the scales for 67-14-0. Third went to Bob Tromans (Fiery Holes) on 62-14-0 and 59-10-0 gave Dave Barnard (R&G) fourth.

Eric Bancroft (R&G) framed for the second time this week and made it two Thursday wins in a row when he took the honours from peg 38 on the Chestnut. Corn and pellet at 5 metres and close in gave a mainly carp catch, backed up with some skimmers, for 85-6-0.

Andy Williams moved up a place from his Monday third to take second this time. He led a trio of close weights from the Sycamore with 78-11-0 which fell to corn fished to each side of peg 49. Colin Reynolds (Bilston Ang Cent) was just behind on 76-15-0 at peg 25 and dave Barnard collected another 4th when he scaled 76-2-0 at peg 22.

Andy Bayliss-Kyte (Maver Sonubaits) took over top spot on Saturday, winning from the Willows Pool. He was on peg 19 and a switched between 5 metres and 11 metres to find ghosties to 4lbs with pellet for his 78-4-0 winner.

On the other side of the pool, at peg 5, John Francis (R&G) improved on his 4th place last Saturday to take second this time. He netted carp to 8lbs together with small barbel to end the day on 61-10-0. Danny Boden (Oakengates Ang Cent) had the top catch from the Chestnut, 60-13-0 to finish third overall and Colin Reynolds was in the prizes again, his 53-12-0 being just enough for fourth.

There was another victory for Sean Barber (Maver Sonubaits) on Sunday when his shallow fished pellet at peg 24 on the Sycamore attracted the attention of carp to 7lbs to give a return of 77-6-0.

Next to Sean, on peg 22, Mike Philbin (Tricast Weston Pools) worked caster and pellet at 7 metres for a mix of carp and skimmers for 58-13-0 and second spot. Third went to Ken Humphries (ABC Baits) at peg 30 with 51-15-0 with Mick Keene (Tricast Weston) a close 4th on 50-11-0 at peg 21.

Boldings report

BOLDINGS REPORT 15/9/10.

Boldings record holder Carl Foster (OB Wolves) was back on the winning track this week, taking the honours on the Wednesday open on the Chestnut Pool. Pegged on 21, Carl worked paste and pellet to each side of the peg find carp to 8lbs for a total of 86-10-0, which put him over 26lbs clear of Mick Jameson (Mid Leisure). He was on peg 14, where pellet at 3 metres put carp to 7lbs and bream to 2lbs in the net for a level 59-0-0.

Jeff Harston (Weston Pools) picked up a third by scaling 46-1-0 at peg 17, and on the opposite bank Pete Ricketts (New Willenhall) had 41-3-0 in 4th.

After recording three frame placings last week Eric Bancroft (Rod & Gun) put his name on the winners envelope on Thursday in a close finish with Colin Reynolds (Bilston Ang Cent).

Eric drew peg 47 on the Sycamore and came close to a ton with 99-3-0 of carp to 8lbs on pellet. Up at peg 33 Colin had fish of a similar stamp on the same bait and was just 3lbs short on 96-3-0 at the finish.

Andy Williams (Vespe) was the only ‘framer’ on the Chestnut, finished third with 81-0-0 from peg 4, and back on the Sycamore Tony Foster (OBW) was one ounce behind Andy on 80-15-0.

Matt Stobbs (Oakengates Ang Cent) found his winning touch on Saturday to head a tight frame in which only 6lbs separated first and fourth.

Sycamore peg 33 featured again, producing the winner for Matt after his maggot and corn approach put 84-12-0 on the scales. Carp to 8lbs and bream to 3lbs made up the catch, which came from the 5 metre line and close in.

Runner up Harry Colley (OBW) was on peg 9 on the Willow Pool where meat and pellet, worked in close accounted for ghosties in the 4lb range for a tally of 82-8-0. Gareth Emlyn (Oak Ang Cent) was also on the Willows and was only a pound and a half behind second when he scaled 81-4-0 at peg 5.

Back on the Sycamore John Francis Rod & Gun) completed the top four with 78-11-0 at peg 21.

Oakengates Angling Centre rods filled the top three places on Sunday, led by Centre boss Gareth Emlyn, who made the move up from third on Saturday to record the top weight of the week, 133-13-0. Carp to 9lbs and barbel to 1lb responded to his maggot and corn, offered to each side of peg 13 on the Sycamore.

Last weeks double winner Shane Rogers was over to the left of the winner at peg 24 and fished to each side of the peg with paste and pellet to tempt carp to 8lbs for a 97-10-0 total.

Kelvin Emlyn was top man on the Oak Pool and third overall with 83-12-0 from peg 22 and Mick Jameson made the pay out again, picking 4th thanks to 81-14-0 from Sycamore 8.
