Boldings report

Boldings Report 10/9/08

It was Boldings Pools that gave the outstanding catch of the week when Colin Reynolds (Bilston Angling Centre) stormed to victory on the Saturday open, following up his big Bank Holiday win with a week-end double.

Based on peg 20 on the beech Pool, Colin fished as tight in to the side as he could with corn and pellet, a move which paid off handsomely, when carp after carp picked up the bait, with fish of 9lbs featuring in a superb 192-7-0 winning net.

Last Saturdays winner Pete Plant (Maver Midlands) was on peg 7 on the Beech, and he also found plenty of fish, using shallow fished pellet, and corn to each side of the point for another big ‘ton’, but was 57lbs behind the winner this time on 135-7-0.

Andy Bayliss-Kyte (Maver) had top weight on the Oak, 66-5-0 for third, leaving Lee Atwell (Kingswinford) to complete the line up with 64-15-0 at Beech peg 29.

Sunday saw Reynolds and Plant finish in the same positions as the previous day, but this time they were on the Oak Pool. Colin Drew corner peg 22, and employed the same tactics which worked so well the day before, and again he finished well clear, scaling 105-7-0.

Pete was also on a corner peg, up at the other end of the pool at peg 1 on the dam, and he also used his tactics of the previous day to net 72-0-0. Joe Brennan (OB Wolves) headed the Beech card with 62-9-0 at peg 16 to take third overall, with Chris Small (Wednesbury) following up on 60-13-0 at Beech 20.

Both mid-week matches at Boldings had bad weather to contend with heavy rain and strong winds making life uncomfortable and raising water levels.

Pete Ricketts (New Willenhall) coped best on Wednesday, winning from point peg 8 on the Sycamore with a mix of carp and bream on corn and pellet for 79-8-0.

On the other point, peg 13, Mick Williams (Telford) also worked with corn and pellet to net an all carp 63-4-0 to claim second. As in the week-end matches it was a pool best which filled third spot when Bob Tromans (Fiery Holes) put 52-15-0 on the scales at Chestnut peg 35. Close behind Bob was Andy Bayliss-Kyte on 51-7-0 at Chestnut 18.

On Thursday Bob Tromans moved up to the head of the table after drawing peg 3 on the Hawthorn Pool, which he tackled with a corn to the bottom of the shelf approach. Carp from 2lb to 7lbs obliged to give Bob an even 78-0-0 return. Andy Bayliss-Kyte also moved up the list, for his third frame appearance of the week, taking second this time by netting 73-1-0, using paste and pellet to the island at Hawthorn 9.

Yet again it was a pool best which took third, with Scott Davidson (DOW AC) continuing the trend with 61-4-0 at Oak peg 21 and fourth was close behind again, with John Wild (Stafford) scaling 60-4-0 at Oak 8.
