BOLDINGS REPORT  28-12-11.

 

          In a busy week at Boldings Pools Richard Duke (BAS) was the first winner at a cold pre Christmas Monday open. He had a level 25-0-0 from Ash peg 16, with carp to 3lbs and chub to 2lbs coming to maggot fished at 14 metres.

          Steve Millward (Maver Total Angling) worked with pellet and maggot at Ash 14 to take 20-12-0 of carp to 4lbs for second and in third was Gary Morris Preston Innov Boldings) on 15-3-0 at Ash 20.

 

          Howard Williams (Weston Pools) added to his list of successes at Boldings with a win on Wednesday by finding carp to 4lbs and skimmers to a pound using maggot at 12 metres at Chestnut peg 10. At the end of the match Howard had 30-14-0 which was enough to hold off a strong challenge from Matt Stobbs (Oakengates Ang Cent). H e was on Sycamore peg 46, and used maggot feeder to put 29-0-0 on the scales. Third went to Ian Hughes (Drennan NW) on 27-8-0 at Sycamore 34.

 

          Bob Tromans (Fiery Holes) followed up a Wednesday win from the previous week with a top of the list on Thursday, when he was involved in a tight finish with Mick Jameson (Mid Leisure) in a well attended match on a day when the temperatures were well up.

          Bob was pegged on Willows 17 and operated with maggot feeder to catch carp and barbel, with samples to 4lbs and 2lbs adding up to 51-12-0.

          Mick fished pellet to the bottom of the ledge at Larch 19, where carp to 5lbs gave a return of 51-5-0.

          Matt Stobbs made the list again and was close behind the top two on 50-2-0 at Willows peg 7. Fourth was claimed by Mark Skelton (Oak Ang Cent) who had a Chestnut best of 47-6-0.

 

          Weights dipped again on a very wet and windy Friday and Neil Cotterell (Kings) headed the frame with 36-15-0 of carp to 4lbs, caught on short pole and maggot at Ash peg 5. At peg 9 Brian Clark (Marukyu) offered pellet at 8 metres and in the side for 30-7-0 of carp to 3lbs and at peg 16 Dean Dickson (Telford) had 25-7-0 for third.

 

          Danny Boden (Oak Ang Cent) gave himself a Christmas bonus by winning the Christmas Eve open in fine style, recording the top weight of the week, 70-10-0.

          Drawn on Sycamore peg 45 Danny fished maggot at 12 metres and included carp to 12lbs in his winning bag.

          Andy Bayliss-Kyte (Maver Sonubaits) and Graham Roberts (PI Bold) shared second when they both scaled 52-0-0. Both fished pellet and maggot, Andy, at Sycamore 34 had carp to 5lbs and bream to 2lbs from the 13 metre line, while Graham had carp to 3lbs and barbel to 2lbs at 14 metres at peg 4.

          At point peg 8 Dave Pritchard PI Bold) scaled 46-3-0 in 4^th.

 

          Boxing day saw another good turn-out and the match gave a close frame, with less than 4lbs covering the top four places and the spoils split between three different pools.

          Chris Holmes (Middle Severn Angling) claimed the main pot with a pellet and maggot based 40-14-0 of small carp, taken fishing to the island at Chestnut peg 23.

          Colin Reynolds (Bilston Ang Cent) alternated fishing into the corner and out at 12 metres at Sycamore 50 and had carp to 5lbs with skimmers to 1lb in his 39-2-0.

          Tim Probert (PI Bold) was best on the Willows and third overall with 38-11-0 at peg 5, and back on the Sycamore Rino Stanko (Oak Ang Cent) had 37-1-0 for 4^th at peg 48.

 

          Mick Jameson was back in the frame to complete his week with a win on Bank Holiday Tuesday. Pellet at 6 metres put carp to 5lbs on the scales at Chestnut peg 30 for a victorious 64-1-0.

          At Chestnut 36 Scott Doodson (Preston Innov) had carp to 4lbs and skimmers to 2lbs for 53-9-0, fishing pellet and maggot at 6 metres and 10 metres to take second.

BOLDINGS REPORT  20-12-11.

 

        Josh Humphries (ABC) was top of the list on the Monday Affordable open at Boldings Pools, finishing ahead of a tie for second place. Josh scaled 26-7-0 at Ash peg 9. having caught carp to 3lbs on pellet at 12 metres.
       The two anglers who finished first and second last week shared second place this time. Keith Powell (Preston Innov Boldings) and Eric Bancroft (Rod &Gun) each weighed 18-11-0, Keith at Ash 20 and Eric at Ash 17.

 

       Maggot feeder tactics helped Bob Tromans (Fiery Holes) to victory on Wednesday, producing a yield of carp to 5lbs  for a total of 46-1-0 at Willows peg 5.
       Ian Hughes (Drennan NW) found smaller samples fishing maggot down the side at Acorn peg 10, where fish to 3lbs added up to 40-6-0 for second spot. 
Phil Shaw (Lower Hill) scaled 25-2-0 for third at Willows 19 and John Wild (Stafford) had 24-5-0 at Willows 17 to complete the frame.

 

          Clive Wynn (Tricast Weston) made his trip down from Oswestry on Thursday pay off by taking top weight of the week, 61-4-0. he was on Larch peg 16 and offered pellet at 16metres to tempt carp to 4lbs.
Josh Humphries enjoyed more success by picking up second by weighing 49-4-0 at Larch peg 1. Pellet fished to the reed bed brought carp to 5lbs to the net.
        Rich Duke (BAS) claimed third with a net of 38-1-0 at Larch peg 4, leaving Keith Miller (New Willenhall) to take the remaining prize with an Ash Pool top weight of 28-7-0 at peg 14.

 

        Kevin Melville (Maver Total Angling) made the first of two week-end frame appearances when he was a clear winner on Saturday. Going out to 12 metres with maggot at Ash peg 14 put 40-13-0 on the scales at the end of the match.
        Matt Stobbs (Oakengates Angling Centre) was Melville’s nearest rival, and like the winner, caught on maggot at 12 metres, but fell 14lbs short on 26-9-0 at Ash peg 20.

        Keith Powell and Richard Duke both framed again, Keith having 21-9-0 for third at Ash 17 and Richard having a Beech Pool best of 21-1-0.

 

          In a close finish on icy Sunday open Gary Morris (PI Bold) finished just over a pound in front of Kevin Melville to prevent him from scoring a wee-end double top.

          Gary was on peg 16 on the Beech and worked three swims with pellet to catch carp to three pounds from the 5 metre, 8 metre and 12 metre lines to weigh 26-13-0.

          Kev was on Beech 7 and also netted carp to 3lbs. He offered maggot at 10 metres to total 25-9-0. Third fell to Mick Jameson (Mid Leisure) at Beech 20 where he had a level 24-0-0 to pip Andy Bayliss-Kyte (Maver Sonubaits) on 23-11-0 at Beech 5.

          Best on the Deepdale was Dave Barnard (R&G) who was 5^th overall with his 20-2-0.

BOLDINGS REPORT  13-12-11.

 

          Keith Powell (Preston Innov Boldings) has had a few near misses at Boldings Pools recently, but hit the bulls eye on Monday this week in a match made tough by the weather.

          Drawn on peg 7 on the Hawthorn Pool, Keith needed a relatively modest 22-0-0 of carp on pellet to register victory.

          Eric Bancroft (Rod & Gun) was diagonal opposite the winner on peg 15 and finished a fish behind on 19-6-0 in second. A level 17-0-0 gave Godfrey Wood (Maver Total Angling) third at peg 11 and Colin Reynolds (Bilston Ang Cent) was 4^th at peg 5 where he weighed 16-7-0.

 

          Colin Wozak (Telford) is another man who has been featuring at Boldings for a while now and he recorded a first place on Wednesday after he drew Ash peg 16, and fished straight lead with maggot on the hook. Carp to 4lbs went for the bait to give Colin a winning 56-15-0.

          Pete Ricketts (New Willenhall) fished pellet down the side and at 5 metres at Middle Pool peg 8, where carp to 3lbs made up a net of 31-11-0 for second place, four ounces ahead of Keith Powell, who framed again with 31-7-0 from Ash 14. Fourth went to a Beech Pool top weight of 30-12-0 by Carl Foster (PI Bold) at peg 26.

 

          Steve Hall (Oswestry) headed a big turn out for the Boldings Fur & Feather on Saturday, when some of the pools were iced over following Friday nights hard frost.

          Choosing to fish single maggot at 11 metres at peg 20 on the Ash paid off for Steve, resulting in carp to 7lbs coming his way for an overall 65-0-0.

          On the Chestnut Pool Jason Atwell (Kingswinford) also decided on the maggot option, fishing at 7 metres and to the island at peg 21. The fish he found were of a smaller stamp, with samples to 3lbs totaling 50-12-0.

          Third also came from the Chestnut when Dave Cole (PI Bold) recorded 46-9-0 at peg 7. Best on the Larch and 4^th overall went to Andy Bayliss-Kyte (Maver Sonubaits) who had 39-3-0 from peg 7. He was followed by Jeff Harston (Tricast Weston Pools) whose level 38-0-0 came from Larch 26, and top man on the Willows was Mick Foan (Oakengates Ang Cent) on 37-5-0 at peg 17.

 

          Graham Roberts (PI Bold) scored maximum Preston league points on Sunday when he headed the frame from peg 14 on the Ash with 49-13-0. Fishing maggot over pellet at 4 metres, alternated with 10 metres he netted carp from 1lb to 3lbs on his way to victory.

          At peg 7 on the Beech Mick Jameson (Mid Leisure) fished to the sides of the point and at 5 metres with pellet, but while his fish were of a better stamp, he fell short by 9lbs, finishing on 40-13-0.
