Boldings report    27-7-16.

With two runner up finishes to his credit at Boldings Pools last week, Dave Pritchard [PI Boldings] moved up a place in the Monday open this week to claim victory from peg 5 on the Beech Pool, where switching to maggot bait brought success. Dave fished the bait down the sides of the peg where he found carp to 8lbs accompanied by bream to 2lbs, which helped to build a winning bag of 111-9-0.

Round at Beech 15 Tony Woolaston [Fatty's] combined maggot and corn to attract carp to 6lbs on the 5 metre line as well as close in, to finish with 102-2-0 for second. Third placed Clive Wright [ABC] had top weight on the Hawthorn Pool, 84-11-0 from peg 13, and peg 7 on the Hawthorn came up with 80-12-0 to give Mick Jameson [PI Bold] fourth.

Clive Wright swapped his third for first on Wednesday when the action moved to the Sycamore Pool, which was in much more subdued form compared with last week. Clive won with a level 80-0-0 from peg 34, the, which consisted of carp to 7lbs and bream to 3lbs, fell to maggot and corn down the side, and at 5 metres.

Dave Pritchard resumed his runner up role by taking a mix of carp and barbel to the scales at peg 38. His fish were in the 8lb and 4lb range respectively which gave a total of 68-3-0, having accepted maggot and corn. Steve Owen [Monkhall] was close behind on 66-2-0 at peg 31, and Bob Tromans [Fiery Holes] was close behind him on 64-7-0 at peg 16.

Top catch of the week fell to Paul Hemmings [Monkhall] and gave him first place in the Thursday  open. Pegged on the Larch Pool at number 4, Paul operated with the current favourite tactic of alternating close in and open water to offer pellet and corn to net carp to 8lbs which gave a final tally of 136-8-0.

Similar methods worked for Clive Wynn [Tricast Weston] at Larch 22, resulting in 102-11-0 of carp to 7lbs making their way to the scales to give Clive second. Alan Naylor [Oakengates Ang Cent] took third with the best catch of the day on the Willows Pool, 82-8-0, which came from peg 22. Also on the Willows was fourth man Alun Jones [Drennan] who had 70-8-0 at peg 19.

It was maggot and corn which scored for Andy Williams [Vespe] on Saturday, bringing a net of carp to 7lbs and bream to 2lbs at peg 48 on the Sycamore. Presenting his bait at 5 metres and down the side saw Andy slip the net under a total of 114-4-0 to clinch the win.

Dave Brown [Maver] put Willows peg 22 in the frame again by taking second with 108-3-0 of carp to 8lbs and barbel to 4lbs. Dave caught on caster and maggot, fished shallow and down the side. Sean Barber [Maver] filled third from Sycamore peg 34, where he weighed 89-8-0. Back on the Willows Stephan Davies [Shrewsbury] rounded off the frame by scaling 83-12-0 at peg 17.

The Oak and the Sycamore pools provided two each of the frame weights on Sunday, with Oak peg 32 being made the winner by Dave Emlyn [Oak Ang Cent]. Using maggot as feed and hookbait, Dave picked off carp and barbel on the close in line, with samples to 6lbs and 3lbs making up the top bag of 84-3-0.

At corner peg 50 on the Sycamore, Dave Hailey [PI Bold] worked shallow caster in to the corner where carp to 8lbs lurked, but at the whistle Dave was left needing another of those carp as the scales recorded 80-6-0. Back on the Oak Scott Doodson [Maver] squeezed into third place just ahead of Bob Baker [Fosters] who was on the Sycamore. Scott registered 75-12-0 at Oak 24, with Bob close behind on 75-1-0 at Sycamore 43.
