Boldings report    4-8-16.

Sorry its late Ed, had bad migraine.

Stefan Davies [Shrewsbury] got the week off to a flying start at Boldings Pools when he stormed to victory in the Monday open from peg 1 on the Oak Pool. Working pellet and corn close to the dam wall soon put Stefan in touch with carp to 7lbs, which he used to build a winning total of 157-9-0.

Up towards the opposite end of the pool Paul Hemmings [Monkhall] offered maggot at 6 metres and close to the edge of peg 19 to find carp to 8lbs together with barbel to 4lbs, but a slower catch rate saw him finish on 142-13-0. The best weight from the Willows Pool, 98-12-0 from peg 16, gave third to Phil Shaw [PI Boldings]. Back on the Oak, Owen Boswell [PI Bodings] scaled 88-11-0 for fourth at peg 8.

Dave Brown [Maver] added another top weight of the week to his ever increasing list when he claimed the coin on Wednesday by posting 162-5-0 at peg 31 on the Sycamore. Shallow caster put Dave in charge on the day, bringing a succession of carp in the 6lbs bracket to the rim of net.

The winner of the Saturday match last, Andy Williams [Vespe] filled second spot on this one, his 131-15-0 being the best catch of the day on the Larch Pool. Andy worked with maggot and corn down the side at peg 4, to pick up carp to 8lbs. Peg 24 on the Sycamore produced 84-3-0 to give Bob Tromans [Fiery Holes] third, ahead of Steve Owen [Monkhall] on 64-14-0 at Larch peg 22.

Dave Brown doubled up with another win on Thursday, this time from the Willows Pool, and with a change of tactics, with pellet and corn, fished to the far side from peg 8 doing the business this time. Carp and barbel made up the catch, with carp of 7lbs joining barbel to 4lbs on the scales.

The rest of the frame weights came from the Sycamore, with Jordan Hall [Maver] well ahead of the others. His runner up 146-4-0 at peg 16 fell to caster, and included 70lbs of bream and barbel, with carp to 7lbs making up the rest. Clive Wynn [Tricast Weston] pipped Paul Evans [PI Bold] to third, by 87-5-0 to 84-11-0.

Paul Hemmings [Monkhall] followed up his top weight performance of last week by taking the Saturday honours from peg 9 on the Willows. Maggot at 5 metres, and close in to the bank found carp to 6lbs and barbel to 5lbs to give a return of 114-14-0.

Matt Stobbs [Oakengates Ang Cent] used maggot and corn for a 90-15-0 net of carp and barbel at Willows peg 16 to take second. Over on peg 8 Ralph Johnson [PI Bold] scaled 86-7-0 in third, and close behind, with an Oak best of 83-12-0 was Harry Colley [PI Bold].

Kevin Melville [Shrewsbury] collected the main prize on Sunday, having just got the decision in a close finish. He was on peg 24 on the Sycamore, where carp and barbel on shallow maggot at 13 metres added up to 92-5-0.

Harry Colley was in the list again, just missing out on first when the scales at Larch peg 2 settled on 90-4-0. Harry caught on pellet, corn and meat. Ralph Johnson also made the frame again, his third best 79-5-0 coming from Sycamore 30, and holding off Pete Ricketts [New Willenhall] who had 76-9-0 at peg 16 on the same pool.
