Boldings report

BOLDINGS REPORT  23/8/11.

Bob Tromans (Fiery Holes) edged home on the Monday open at Boldings, finishing four ounces better off than Monday specialist Colin Reynolds (Bilston Ang Cent).

Bob was on peg 7 on the Hawthorn and used corn and pellet down the side and at 5 metres to net 83-7-0 of carp to 6lbs, while Colin fished pellet at 5 metres and corn down the edge at Beech peg 23 to net carp to 8lbs and bream to 2lbs for his 83-3-0.

Josh Humphries (Weston Pools) had 70-9-0 at hawthorn 5 for third and 64-14-0 from Hawthorn 3 gave Harry Colley (PI Boldings) fourth.

Pellet at 4metres and to each side of the point at Sycamore peg 8 saw Mick Jameson (Mid Leisure) take charge of the Wednesday open, with carp to 9lbs and bream to 3lbs adding up to 103-3-0.

Round at corner peg 18 Tony Foster (PI Bold) had carp and barbel on pellet at 7 metres and corn close in for figures of 82-13-0 which gave him second prize.

Close behind, in third was Matt Stobbs (Oakengates Ang Cent) who had a Chestnut top weight of 81-2-0 from peg 30, and following him with the first of three placings for the week was Pete Ricketts (New Willenhall) on 78-0-0 at Sycamore 48.

Pete Ricketts moved up to top spot on Thursday with a shallow pellet approach at Sycamore 34 which put a net full of carp to 4lbs on the scales for 118-9-0.

Carl Foster (PI Bold) followed his brother Tonys example from the previous day to finish second. He was top man on the Chestnut when he scaled 101-6-0 at peg 13, the catch coming to corn and pellet in the corner at peg 13.

Matt Stobbs drew the same peg as the day before, Chestnut 30, and finished third again, this time with a level 91-0-0. Back on the Sycamore John Edwards (Oswestry) had 83-11-0 for third at peg 31.

On Saturday Tony Foster added a first to his Wednesday second place by banking the top weight of the week, 129-12-0. Corn and pellet at 5 metres and close in found carp to 7lbs and bream to 3lbs at peg 33 on the Sycamore for a clear win.

Dave Matson (Rod & Gun) mixed barbel to 2lbs with carp to 9lbs at Sycamore 8, taking fish from the 4metre line and from the margins for a total of 86-5-0.

Graham Palmer (Fitters) recorded 79-7-0 at peg 50 for third and Lee Atwell (Kingswinford) had 76-2-0 for 4th at peg 48.

Pete Ricketts was back at the top of the card on Sunday, putting in a winning performance at Oak peg 22 to take maximum points towards his August Preston league total. Fishing paste and pellet at 5metres and in the side, Pete took an all carp haul of 106-14-0, which featured fish to 8lbs.

The three remaining frame places were filled from pegs on the Willows Pool, where Pete Plant led the way with 92-7-0 for second overall. As usual for Pete his catch came to shallow caster, which accounted for carp to 5lbs at peg 9.

Gary Morris (PI Bold) took third, making him the only angler to pick up August league points on all of the months matches so far. He scaled 89-15-0 at peg 17 and was followed by Mark Lloyd (Oak Ang Cent) on 81-8-0 at peg 11.

Gary Morris now heads the Preston points table with 16 points, Kelvin Emlyn is second on 10, Sean Barber and Gareth Emlyn each have 9 and Steve Giles has 8.
