Boldings report

BOLDINGS REPORT  16/8/11.

The weeks programme at Boldings began with an Oak Tree open on Monday with Keith Miller (New Willenhall) improving on his Wednesday runner up of last week, to score a narrow win. He was on peg 1 and fished to the dam wall on his left and into the corner on his right, using pellet to net 91-12-0 of carp to 7lbs.

Last Mondays winner Phil Shaw (Lower Hill) was close behind with a shallow pellet catch of carp for 89-15-0 at peg 5.

At point peg 29 Graham Evason (Preston Innov Boldings) picked up third with 80-9-0 and at peg 24 Colin Reynolds (Bilston Ang Cent) had a level 66-0-0 in 4th.

Phil Shaw moved back up to top spot on Wednesday using shallow pellet again, this time at Beech peg 11. A steady supply of carp to 4lbs added up to 102-10-0 at the whistle.

Three weights from the Hawthorn filled the remaining places, led by 89-4-0 by Carl Foster (PI Boldings) who fished corn and pellet at 4 metres and close in for carp to 7lbs at peg 13.

Matt Stobbs (Oakengates Ang Cent) left with third prize after weighing 76-1-0 leaving Bob Tromans (Fiery Holes) to round off the day with 70-6-0 for 4th.

Thursday produced the best frame with the top five all beating the 100lbs mark. Best of the bunch was Eric Bancroft (Rod & Gun) who put together 129-6-0 at peg 36 on the Sycamore where carp to 9lbs and bream to 3lbs sought out Erics maggot and pellet feed, fished close in.

Dave Matson (R&G) followed up his successes of last week with a second on this match. He was on Sycamore peg 8 and had carp and barbel on pellet to each side of the peg to weigh 118-7-0.

Third placed Andy Williams (Vespe) was top man on the Chestnut, scaling 114-3-0 at peg 21 to just beat Gareth Emlyn (Oak Ang Cent) on 114-0-0 at Sycamore 33.

Saturday was much slower and 72-0-0 from Beech peg 7 secured the winners purse for Mick Jameson (Mid Leisure). Mick’s catch consisted of carp to 7lbs and fell to pellet close in and at 4 metres.

Andy Bayliss-Kyte (Maver Sonubaits) offered pellet to the weed bed and at 13 metres in open water at Larch peg 3. One more fish would have made all the difference as Andy finished on 67-6-0 having netted carp to 5lbs.

At the next peg (4) Steve Hall (Oswestry) was another angler needing one more fish when he saw the scales settle at 66-13-0, leaving him in third, with Pete Ricketts (New Willenhall) 4th on 62-4-0 at Larch 15.

Oakengates Angling Centre rods filled the top three places on Sunday, with Steve Giles taking top catch of the week for maximum Preston Innovations league points.

Pegged on the Sycamore at number 24, Steve worked maggot and corn to each side to pick off carp to 8lbs and bream to 3lbs to build his 131-6-0 winner.

Over on the Ash Pool Gareth Emlyn had carp to 7lbs on maggot for 93-7-0 to finish second. Back on the Sycamore John Palfrey completed the Oakengates trio with 93-1-0 from peg 16. Mick Jameson followed up his Saturday win with a fourth on this match, scaling 89-6-0 at Sycamore 13.
