Boldings report

BOLDINGS REPORT  18/5/11.

Eric Bancroft (Rod & Gun) improved on his runner place of last Monday at Boldings Pools to secure the top honours this week. A maggot and corn combination, fished at 6 metres and in the side at Hawthorn peg 3 brought carp to 7lbs to the net for a final tally of 97-1-0.

Over at peg 9 Danny Boden (Oakengates Ang Cent) operated with pellet at 4 metres and in the margins to net carp to 6lbs on his way to 93-8-0.

Kevin Melville (Maver Total Angling) finished third with the top catch from the Stock Pool, 86-3-0 and a Middle Pool best of 83-8-0 gave Andy Williams (Dorset Pools) 4th.

Mick Jameson (Mid Leisure) had exactly 100lbs to win on Wednesday, when he drew point peg 13 on the Sycamore. His pellet bait, fished 4 metres off the point and close in, was snapped up by carp to 8lbs and bream to 3lbs.

Over to the left of the winner at peg 24 Richard Duke (Bridgnorth AS) alternated shallow pellet in open water with fishing down the edge  to find carp to 5lbs and barbel to 1lb to just hold off Paul Evans (Bewdley). Richard ended the day on 76-1-0, while Paul had 75-11-0 at peg 47.

Fourth went to Tony Foster (OB Wolves) on 65-12-0 at peg 8.

Pete Ricketts (New Willenhall) was another angler on the up, exchanging a second last week for a first this week. He won on Thursday from peg 29 on the Beech by combining pellet and paste to tempt carp to 7lbs from the 6 metre line and from close in. At the end of the match a total of 100-2-0 was recorded.

At Beech 18 John Wild (Stafford) had carp and bream on pellet to take second with 86-15-0. Eric Bancroft was there again, recording an Oak Pool best of 78-12-0 for third, followed by 70-15-0 from Beech 23 by Graham Roberts (OB Wolves).

Jason Elwell (Pro Line Wednesbury) made the first of two frame visits by winning on Saturday from peg 16 on the Oak. Switching between fishing at 10 metres and in the side, with pellet and paste put carp to 5lbs in the net for a narrow victory with 82-4-0, just enough to beat the Beech best of 80-10-0 from peg 16 by Nige Clarke (OBW) who took all his fish close in on corn and pellet.

Keeping things tight was Andy Bayliss-Kyte (Maver) on 79-6-0 at Beech 5, with Mick Foan (Telford) collecting 4th with his 60-7-0 at Beech 7.

On Sunday Shane Rogers ( Rod & Gun) beat the mid week ton up catches to record the weeks best of 107-6-0, which was a mixed bag, including carp to 6lbs, which fell to corn and pellet, fished to the island from peg 26 on the Chestnut.

Jason Elwell also beat the ton from peg 10 on the Chestnut to take second with 103-11-0. He had carp to 5lbs in a mixed bag, caught on pellet and paste at 10 metres and into the corner.

Andy Williams (Vespe) topped the Oak list with 97-15-0 from peg 27 for third overall and Simon Richardson (Maver) had 83-0-0 in 4th at Oak 3.
