Boldings report

BOLDINGS REPORT  10/5/11.

The Bank Holiday open at Boldings was a bit special with the top eight anglers all weighing over 100lbs, with tons coming from three different pools.

Best of the eight tons came from Mick Williams (Telford) who made peg 20 on the Beech a winner by scaling 120-14-0. In that he included a carp of 23lbs, which, like the rest of the catch, came to corn and pellet, fished to each side of the peg.

Regular Monday framer Colin Reynolds (Bilston Ang Cent) headed the Chestnut card with a mix of carp to 8lbs and bream to 3lbs from peg 32 which totalled 114-2-0, and came to similar tactics to the winners.

Peg 32 on the Beech provided Ed Turner (OB Wolves) with 110-6-0 for third place, a pound ahead of Dave Matson (Rod & Gun) on 109-8 at Beech 16. Ralph Johnson (Bilston Ang Cent) was top on the Oak and 5th overall with 109-4-0.

Richard Duke (Bridgnorth AS) finished well ahead of the rest on Wednesday by switching between shallow maggot and corn in the side at Ash peg 18. Finding carp to 8lbs, Richard put together a 117-13-0 winning net.

Tony Foster (OB Wolves) stuck to shallow pellet at Ash 7 and had carp to 5lbs with chub to 3lbs for his runner up 79-7-0.

Bob Tromans (Fiery Holes) led the way on the Hawthorn to finish third with 68-0-0 and also on the Hawthorn was Phil Shaw (Lower Hill) with 61-1-0.

Having finished second on the Thursday open last week Pete Ricketts (New Willenhall) made sure of top spot this week by posting the top weight of the week. He was drawn on Sycamore 33 where a paste and corn approach set him on the road to victory, with carp up to 12lbs finding his bait in the margins to give a level 143-0-0.

Ed Turner was back in the frame, moving up a place from Monday to take second on this match. Fishing corn and pellet to each side, Ed found carp to 9lbs and bream to 2lbs  to finish on 118-3-0 at Sycamore 40.

Dave Barnard (R & G) filled third with the best net from the Chestnut, 93-3-0 from peg 40 and Kelvin Emlyn (Oakengates Ang Cent) took 4th with his 87-14-0 from Chestnut 7.

Jason Elwell (Pro Line Wednesbury) added another win to his name and just beat the ton on Saturday, with a mix of carp to 8lbs and barbel to 1lb. He was on Sycamore 35 and took his 100-8-0 catch on paste at 4 metres and close in.

Carl Foster (OBW) worked pellet and paste close in at Chestnut 4 to tempt carp to 9lbs and bream to 3lbs to scale 94-7-0 for second place.

Opposite Carl at Chestnut 36, Nige Clarke (OBW) just scraped third by 4 ounces when the scales went to 87-4-0 while at Sycamore 13 they stopped at 87-0-0 for Richard Foan (Telford).
