Boldings report

BOLDINGS REPORT  26/4/11.

There were two more wins for Andy Williams (Vespe) at Boldings Pools to add to his Easter Monday success, and Pete Ricketts (New Willenhall) also enjoyed a profitable week.

Pete Started things off with a win on the Wednesday open, moving up a place on his runner up spot last week. Pellet and corn, fished close in at peg 11 on the Middle Pool attracted carp to 5lbs to put 90-10-0 on the scales to give Pete victory.

Carl Foster (OB Wolves) also moved up a place on last week, to claim second from peg 5 on the Middle. Pellet and corn did the trick for Carl as well, finding carp to 7 lbs in the corner to give figures of 72-2-0.

Bob Tromans (Fiery Holes) finished in third with a Hawthorn best of 70-8-0 at peg 5 and at peg 1 on the Hawthorn Keith Miller (New Willenhall) had 63-11-0 in 4th.

Thursday saw the first of Andy Williams wins when he recorded top weight of the week, 134-15-0. The catch featured carp to 9lbs and bream to 2lbs, which Andy tempted with corn fished to each side of peg 24 on the Sycamore.

Pete Ricketts improved on his Wednesday weight by over 25lbs but still had to settle for second. He was on the Chestnut this time and alternated shallow fished pellet with close in tactics at peg 30 to net 116-3-0. Carl Foster followed Pete again, taking third from Chestnut 18 where he scaled 98-9-0, while back on the Sycamore Eric Bancroft (Rod & Gun) put his name on fourth prize by weighing 93-14-0 at peg 40.

A net of ghosties to 4lbs for 72-15-0 gave victory to Dave Craggs (Maver) on Friday. He had drawn peg 5 on the Willows and caught his fish on maggot, fished up in the water.

Round at peg 8 Simon Christian (Fosters) fished into open water and across to the dam wall bank with pellet to almost match the winner, falling just over 2lbs behind with 70-10-0.

Third came from the Oak when Adam Rumble (OB Wolves) netted 65-15-0 from the back of the island at peg 22, and fourth also came from the Oak with Jason Elwell (Pro Line Wednesbury) scaling 62-7-0 at peg 8.

The Chestnut Pool proved favourite on Saturday, giving the top four weights and a close finish with two heavyweight bags from adjacent pegs.

Mick Jameson (Mid Leisure) triumphed in the end with a pellet approach, fishing at 5 metres and close in at peg 23, where he had all carp to 5lbs to end the day on 123-14-0.

Jason Elwell moved up from 4th the previous day to run the winner close from peg 21. He fished maggot to the island to find carp to 6lbs, bream to 3lbs and barbel to 1lb for 121-13-0.

Kelvin Emlyn (Oakengates Angling Centre) was round at peg 28 where 66-9-0 gave him third, and Simon Christian framed again, his 62-12-0 taking fourth.

Fridays winner Dave Craggs was top man on the Sycamore with 59-9-0.

Andy Williams rounded off the week with a clear win on Sunday, finishing 30lbs ahead of a scramble for the rest of the prize places.

Pegged on Larch 18, Andy worked corn and maggot in the edge where he found carp to 8lbs lurking, and put together a 104-14-0 winner.

Simon Richardson (Maver) edged second with a Sycamore best of 74-15-0, taken on pellet and corn from peg 36. At Sycamore 24 Colin Reynolds (Bilston Ang Cent) was just behind Richardson on 74-8-0. Pete Ricketts was in the list again, having a Willows best of 73-7-0 for 4th with Andy Bayliss-Kyte (Maver Sonubaits) 3 ounces behind him on 73-4-0. at Larch 5.
