Boldings report    5-4-17.

First winner of the week at Boldings Pools this week was tony Woolaston [Fatty's] who finished 20lbs in front of a bit of a scramble for the rest of the frame places.

Tony was on peg 7 on the Beech Pool and included bream to 2lbs with carp to 7lbs in his top net of 89-6-0. Corn down the side was the successful tactic.

The same tactics accounted for the 68-2-0 which handed second to Tony Foster [PI Boldings] at Beech peg 26, where all carp in the 6lbs bracket made up the weight. Beech peg 16 came up with 65-5-0 to give third to Phil Shaw [PI Bold] and tight behind him was Owen Boswell [Shrewsbury] who had a Larch Pool top weight of 64-7-0 at peg 14.

The rest of the matches all produced mainly 'ton up' frames, starting with the 114-8-0 top score by Gary Steele [Swan] on Thursday.  Gary won from peg 8 on the Sycamore with a catch which featured carp to 8lbs and barbel 4lbs, which homed in onto maggot, fished at 4 metres and 10 metres.

Steve Owen [Monkhall] had all the ones at Sycamore 22, weighing in 111-11-0, which was made up with carp to 7lbs and bream to 3lbs, which Steve attracted with corn at 6 metres and close in to the bank. Top man on the Oak Pool was Dave Brown [Maver] whose 104-5-0 gave him third overall, while 95-12-0 fro Sycamore 33 put Rob Hancox [B&H Floats] into fourth.

Top spot on Saturday was taken over by Simon Christian [Sedgley] who beat three weights from the Sycamore with his 115-15-0 from peg 17 on the Willows. Shallow pellet got the fish, carp to 7lbs, feeding for Simon, but he needed every one of the fish he landed as runner up Bob Baker [Wolves] finished only 3lb behind.

Bob was drawn on Sycamore 34 and used shallow caster to take a net of carp to 7lbs and bream to 3lbs totaling 112-9-0. Steve Roberts [Oakengates Angling Centre] was even closer behind in third, with his 110-15-0 at Sycamore 24, and Ralph Johnson [PI Bold] kept things tight with 106-11-0 for fourth at Sycamore 31.

The best weight of the week, and the biggest winning margin came on Sunday and fell to Darren Warden [Pool Hayes]. Working the 5 metre line and into the side at Sycamore peg 21 with pellet, Darren picked off carp to 8lbs and barbel to 4lbs regularly, but then his day was highlighted when a carp of 18lbs joined in to give battle, but ended up on the scales with the rest of Darren's catch.

Just along the bank at peg 24 Morgan Davidson [Monkhall/OAC] caught carp to 9lbs and bream to 2lb on maggot down the side to scales 111-10-0 for second. Clive Wynn [Tricast Weston] topped the Chestnut card with 108-8-0 to finish third, and 104-7-0 from Sycamore 33 put Andy Williams [Vespe] into fourth.
