Boldings report    19-4-17.

The Monday open gave the best frame at Boldings Pools and included the top weight of the week, 134-5-0 by Ralph Johnson [PI Boldings]. The match was staged on the Ash and Hawthorn pools, with Ash peg 18 providing Ralph with his haul, which consisted of carp to 7lbs, which he enticed with shallow caster.

A pellet, corn and meat bait combination accounted for the top catch from the Hawthorn, 112-8-0 of carp to 8lbs, which put Harry Colley [PI Bold] into second at peg 9. Third also came from the Hawthorn when Colin Reynolds [Bilston Ang Cent] handed 103-8-0 over to the scales at peg 3. Eric Bancroft [Rod & Gun] completed an all ton frame by scaling 100-10-0 at Ash peg 23.

Three out of the four frame weights came from the Willows Pool in a close Wednesday open, in which Tony Foster led the way from Willows 16. Pellet and corn fished at 5 metres, as well as close in to the bank had carp to 7lbs and barbel to 5lbs feeding, to give a return of 94-3-0.

At Larch peg 16, Graham Palmer [Fitters] worked with the same bait combo, offering his at 8 metres, and close in, to pick off carp in the 6lbs bracket for a total of 90-14-0. Back on the Willows, at peg 13, Mick Jameson [PI Bold] booked in 88-9-0 for a close third, with Ken Gutteridge [PI Bold] fourth on 74-9-0 at Willows 8.

On Thursday Harry Colley and Colin Reynolds both improved on their Monday placings to fill first and second places. Harry enjoyed catching carp to 9lbs at peg 31 on the Sycamore Pool, where pellet and meat on the inside attracted the fish, which gave final figures of 130-8-0.

Colin had easily the best weight from the Chestnut Pool, 120-6-0 at peg 30. He caught on corn, fished to each side of the peg, and his catch featured carp to 8 lbs together with bream to 3lbs. After the top two there was a big drop to the 74-13-0 which gave third to Steve Owen [Monkhall] at Sycamore peg 34 and the 71-15-0 which put Matt Edgerton [OAC] into 4th at Chestnut 9.

Colin Reynolds took his turn at the top on Saturday when he included carp to 10lbs in a winning net of 99-6-0 at Sycamore peg 22. The fish came to maggot, presented to both sides of the peg.

Out on the point at peg 13 Andy Williams [Vespe] worked maggot and corn to each side of the point to net a mix of carp to 7lbs and bream to 3lbs to finish with 94-4-0 in second. Rob Hancox [B&H Floats] was third overall with the top score from the Chestnut, 88-12-0 at peg 23, and just behind him, on 86-1-0 at Sycamore 39, was Andy Kyte [Middle Severn Angling].

Dave Emlyn [Oakengates Ang Cent] made the most of a good turn out on Sunday, when he edged the win by less than a pound. He was drawn on Ash peg 20, and switched between offering maggot down the side with shallow maggot at 4 metres. Carp to 6lbs responded, and at the whistle Dave had 83-6-0 in his net.

At Larch peg 6 Morgan Davidson [B&H Floats] worked maggot to each side of the peg to finish with 82-7-0 of carp to 7lbs. An even 74-0-0 from Ash 14 gave third to Richard Guest [Maver] and at Ash peg 7 Dave Lloyd [Maver] scaled 67-12-0 in fourth.
