Boldings report    22-3-17.

Harry Colley [PI Boldings] had the top weight of the week at Boldings Pools this week when he won the Sunday open from peg 4 on the Chestnut Pool. Using his favourite combination of baits, pellet, corn and meat, Harry got the attention of carp to 8lbs on the close in line on each side of the peg, and moved clear of the field to end the match with a total of 139-0-0.

Rob Lloyd [Maver] was at the back of the island, on peg 23, but fished into the corner using corn and pellet, which gave a catch of carp to 7lbs and bream to 2lbs weighing 91-7-0. Mick Jameson [PI Bold] was close behind in third with his Oak Pool top score of 89-0-0. Fourth went to another pool best, 80-9-0, which Dave Doughty [PI Bold] recorded at Sycamore peg 13.

In the build up to the week-end, Eric Bancroft [Rod & Gun] recorded the first success of the week, victory in the Monday open on the Larch Pool. Eric pulled peg 1 from the draw bag, and tackled it with a maggot attack, offering the bait to each side to entice carp to 7lbs to feed. They moved in on the bait to give figures of 114-7-0 to clinch the top prize for Eric.

Up at the other end of the pool, at peg 22, Graham Roberts [PI Bold] had fish of a similar size to those of the winner, on pellet and corn, worked at 6 metres and close in. When the end of the match came, he was three fish short of the target with a level 93-0-0. Phil Shaw [PI Bold] was only 3lbs behind on 89-13-0 at peg 19, and up at peg 4 Ralph Johnson [Willenhall] finished on 84-13-0 in fourth.

Two Tricast Weston rods vied for top spot on Wednesday, with the laurels going to Mick Keene, who held off a challenge from Jeff Harston. Mick was on peg 5 on the Beech Pool, and picked off carp to 7lbs using corn, pellet and maggot, which he presented at 8 metres as well as close in to the bank.

Jeff drew peg 1 on the Oak Pool, where corn and pellet close to the dam wall, and at 5 metres saw him netting carp to 6lbs. When the scales came round, the better stamp of fish landed by Keene made a difference, with him weighing in 74-11-0, while Harston saw the scales settle at 62-5-0.
