Boldings report

Boldings report    29-7-15.

Monday open honours at Boldings Pools this week went to Owen Boswell [Shrewsbury] who netted carp and bream at peg 32 on the Beech Pool to edge ahead of the rest by 7lbs with a total match weight of 104-6-0. Carp to 7lbs and bream to 2lbs made up the catch, which Owen took on pellet and worm, fished at 4 metres.

Eric Bancroft [Rod & Gun] moved up a place on last week to take second from Beech 23, where carp to 7lbs fell to shallow maggot and paste close in, to give figures of 97-2-0. An Oak Pool top weight of 75-13-0 put Danny Boden [Oakengates Ang Cent] into third, with Ed Turner [PI Boldings] fourth on 74-13-0 at Beech 16.

Sean Barber [Maver] followed up his runner up finish last Sunday with a comfortable win on Wednesday from Willows peg 5. Operating with shallow pellet, Sean was in touch with carp to 6lbs and barbel to 4lbs as he built a 155-6-0 winner.

Second came from the Larch Pool where Paul Evans [PI Bold] fished caster at 3 metres for a 109-2-0 net of carp to 7lbs and bream to 2lbs. Back on the Willows last Wednesdays winner Phil Shaw [PI Bold] scaled 106-4-0 at peg 8 to pip Tony Foster [PI Bold] who had 106-1-0 at Larch peg 4.

Jordan Hall [Matrix] jumped from third last Thursday to first this week, in a close finish with Paul Evans, who had to settle for second again. Jordan was on peg 8 on the Sycamore where 90lbs of his 149-11-0 consisted of bream and barbel, with rest being carp to 7lbs. caster at 6 metres accounted for the whole of the catch.

Paul also had bream and barbel, together with carp, at peg 32 on the Chestnut. His catch came from the 3 metre line, and like the winner he baited with caster. The scales indicated he was one fish short when they settled at 147-5-0. Last weeks winner Dave Brown [Maver] picked up third by scaling 1061-0 at Sycamore 24 and close behind him, on 102-10-0 at Chestnut 21 was Matt Stobbs {Oak Ang Cent].

Sean Barber added a Saturday victory to his mid week success, but this time it was a much closer run thing, with less than two pounds between first and second. Sean was on Chestnut 30 and offered pellet, up in the water and on the 5 metre line. Carp to 7lbs and bream to 3lbs obliged for a final tally of 99-2-0.

Paul Wheeler [PI Bold] fished pellet, shallow and to the island at peg 23 to stay close all the way to the whistle, but in the end, smaller fish, carp to 6lbs and bream to 2lbs, left him just short on 97-7-0. Peg 26 provided Andy Williams [Vespe] with 80-15-0 for third, just ahead of Andy Kyte [Middle Severn Angling] on 79-14-0 at peg 16.

The prolonged downpour on Sunday made things uncomfortable for the anglers, but the fish responded to it by feeding well. Dave Hailey [PI Bold] cashed in to bank the best weight of the week, 182-9-0. He was on Willows peg 19 and netted carp to 7lbs and barbel to 3lbs, which snapped up his shallow pellet offerings.

Over at corner peg 9, Gareth Emlyn [Oak Ang Cent] had over 80lbs of barbel to 4lbs in his runner up 155-0-0, the rest being carp to 8lbs, all of which came to maggot fished down the side. Kelvin Emlyn [Oak Ang Cent] was top man on the Oak, and third overall with 144-11-0 from peg 31, and Andy Kyte was a close fourth again with 141-3-0 from Oak peg 27.
