Boldings report

BOLDINGS REPORT  16-10-12.

The changeable Autumn weather had the weights fluctuating a bit at Boldings Pools this week. The Monday match was won by last weeks runner up Phil Shaw (Lower Hill) who worked shallow pellet at peg 14 on the Ash. There were a lot of carp in the 1lb to 3lb bracket in the swim  and Phil plundered 82-3-0 of them for victory.

Over on peg 7 on the Ash, Godfrey Wood (Total Angling) fished in the side and at 5 metres to include carp to 5lbs in a second best 73-2-0. Eric Bancroft had a Hawthorn top weight of 60-13-0 to take third, leaving Ian Ward (Shrewsbury) to collect 4th with 48-3-0 from Ash 3.

The fish were a bit slower to feed on Wednesday when Gary Morris (PI Boldings) topped the list with 56-6-0 from Sycamore 13. Pellet, fished at 5 metres and to each side of the point found carp to 6lbs and barbel to 3lbs to give Gary the win.

Phil Shaw made the prize list again, filling second spot this time with a Chestnut best of 52-13-0, taken on shallow pellet at peg 18.

49-6-0 from Chestnut 32 gave third place to Andy Williams (Colmic Vespe) and not far behind him Joe Brennan (PI Bold) was 4th on 47-14-0 at Sycamore 31.

There was not much in it on Thursday when Ed Turner (PI Bold) prevented Gary Morris from scoring a double win. The match was held on the Oak Pool, with Ed drawn peg 29 and Gary, almost opposite on peg 8. Fishing corn and pellet at 5 metres and close in, Ed picked off carp to 8lbs, with Gary matching him almost fish for fish, using pellet at 5 metres for samples of a similar size. When the scales arrived, Ed was credited with 81-2-0, just beating the 79-12-0 by Gary.

Colin Reynolds (Bilston Ang Cent) had 69-5-0 from the peg next to the winner, peg 30, to claim third, with Carl Foster (PI Bold) 4th on 61-15-0 at peg 11.

The Chestnut Pool proved to be best on Saturday, providing three of the top four weights, including the winner by Steve Owen (Mid Leisure). Drawn on the next peg to the one he finished second from on Sunday last week, the same pellet and corn tactics put him top of the card this time at peg 26. Alternating close in fishing with presenting his bait to the island, found carp to 7 lbs and barbel to 3 lbs totaling 80-3-0.

Over on peg 10 Matt Stobbs (Oakengates Ang Cent) worked pellet close in to each side of the peg, and he too had carp and barbel, finishing one fish short of the winner on 75-12-0. Third went to a Sycamore top weight of 64-1-0 by Graham Palmer (Fitters) and back on the Chestnut Pete Plant (Maver Midlands) had 58-5-0 in 4th.

Colin Wozak (Telford) added to his list of successes on Sunday by posting the best weight of the week, 115-13-0. Colin’s win came from the Willows Pool, making it five different pools producing winners this week. Shrugging off the ‘unlucky 13. tag, he fished shallow maggot at peg 13 to net carp to 7lbs on his way to victory.

Second also came from the willows when Dave Craggs (Maver Midlands) recorded 106-12-0 at peg 19, having caught carp to 5lbs on pellet, up in the water. Third man Jason Elwell (Phil’s Tackle) was best on the Larch with 81-6-0 at peg 7 and a Sycamore best of 77-15-0 from peg 49 put Adam Slade (Sedgeley) into 4th.
