BOLDINGS REPORT  10-10-12.

Colin Wozak (Telford) opened proceedings at Boldings Pools this week with a big weight win on the Monday Affordable open on the Sycamore Pool. Setting a trend which saw maggot prove the top bait, Colin fished shallow with it at peg 13 to record 137-9-0, which featured carp to 7lbs.

Over at peg 36, on the long bank, Phil Shaw (Lower Hill) went for pellet, fished shallow and into the side, but couldn’t quite stay with the winner, and finished with a net of carp and bream for 108-4-0. Phil Rhodes (PI Boldings) put himself into third spot by scaling  91-14-0 at peg 24, and 87-1-0 from peg 4 gave Colin Reynolds (Bilston Ang Cent) 4th.

Brian Clark (Colmic Marukyu)  won on the Chestnut on Wednesday, taking carp to 6lbs and barbel to 3lbs on maggot, fished to each side of peg 7. When the scales settled, Brian saw figures of 87-3-0 put on the weigh sheet, which beat the 80-2-0 that gave Phil Rhodes his second frame place of the week. Phil caught on pellet and corn at peg 30, and had carp to 7lbs. Phil Shaw also framed again, exchanging places with Rhodes to pick up third with 67-3-0 at peg 38.

Shane Rogers (Oakengates Ang Cent) won by one fish on Thursday. Sticking to the maggot theme, he fished to each side of the point at Sycamore 8, where carp to 6lbs and barbel to 3lbs added up to 66-14-0.

Maggot helped Pete Ricketts (New Willenhall) to second at peg 40, putting carp to 5lbs and bream to 2lbs in the net for 61-10-0. Tight behind Pete was Andy Williams (Colmic Vespe) with a level 61-0-0 at peg 25, and 4th man Phil Taylor (Dams & Locks) kept things tight with 59-11-0 at peg 13.

Jason Elwell (Phil’s Tackle) won for the second Saturday running by working maggot down the shelf at peg 48 on the Sycamore, and gave himself a 30lbs breathing space by weighing 94-7-0. Carp to 7lbs and barbel to 3lbs made up Jason’s catch.

Sycamore 13 featured again, filling second place this time. Danny Boden (Oak Ang Cent) used pellet and corn, presented to each side, to net 64-8-0 of carp to 6lbs. Steve Hall (Oswestry) was at peg 26 and had 60-12-0 for third ahead of Andy Williams who made his second frame appearance thanks to 56-15-0 from peg 6.

Richard Guest (Maver Midlands) ended the maggot domination on Sunday with a shallow caster attack at Chestnut peg 15, which helped him to the top weight of the week, a superb 168-0-0.

Steve Owen (Mid Leisure) caught well on corn and pellet at Chestnut 26, but still finished half a hundredweight behind the winner with 112-0-0 of carp and barbel.

Winner of last weeks Nick Gretton Memorial, Andy Kyte (Maver Sonubaits) finished in third with a level 97-0-0 at Chestnut 18, and Colin Wozak ended the week by making the frame again with the top catch from the Sycamore, 87-0-0 from peg 11.
