BOLDINGS REPORT
The new Preston Innovations Boldings Winter League for teams of five got under way on Sunday, with eleven teams taking part. The complex fished well on the day and it took 100lbs to make the top four, with the individual winner, Richard Lawson taking top weight of the week, fishing pellet at 4metres for a lot of carp in the 1lb to 3lb range, topped up with carp to 8lbs on corn, fished in the side.

1st Rich Lawson (Oakengates Angling Centre Gold) 141-3-0 from Larch 15
2nd Dave Brown (Maver Midlands) 132-2-0, carp to 7lbs on shallow fished caster and maggot, Larch peg 16.
3rd Dave Craggs (Maver Total Angling Blue) 105-0-0 from Larch peg 1.

With the top eight weights from the league and from the regular Sunday open counting towards the Preston individual monthly league, Dave Craggs second place was crucial, as it took him to 18 points scored in September, which put him one ahead of a tie for second place between John Francis and Andy Bayliss-Kyte, who both finished on 17.
First winner of the week at Boldings this week was Eric Bancroft (Rod & Gun) who claimed the spoils on the Monday Affordable open on the Willows Pool. he was on peg 5 and had carp to 7lbs on pellet, fished at 8 metres and close in to total 80-10-0.

On the Beech on Wednesday Pete Ricketts (New Willenhall) won for the second week on the trot when he put 88-9-0 on the scales at point peg 7. His catch came to paste at 5 metres and down the side. Mark Foster (PI Bold) had carp and bream on shallow pellet and from the corner at peg 20 for 84-10-0. gary Morris (PI Bold) kept things close with 82-9-0 for third at peg 23 and Howard Williams (Weston Pools) finished off the frame with 60-4-0 at peg 32.
Weights were very similar on the Sycamore Pool on Thursday when 88-0-0 from peg 48 handed victory to Ed Turner (PI Bold). Ed fished corn and pellet to each side of the peg and at 5 metres to pick off carp to 9lbs and bream to 3lbs.
Eric Bancroft added a second to his Monday win, finishing one fish behind the winner with 84-5-0 at peg 25, where pellet and paste accounted for the catch.
Pete Ricketts also framed for the second time, taking third with 78-13-0 at peg 31, and was closely followed by Dave Barnard (R&G) on 77-4-0 at peg 13.
John Francis (R&G) had top open weight of the week on Saturday by putting pellet at 5metres and corn in the margins to work at peg 11 on the Beech. Appropriately for a heavy goods driver, John included the big carp affectionately known as “Wide Load” in his catch, which otherwise consisted of carp from 1lb to 8lbs. Wide Load took the scales to 25-1-0, which boosted Johns total to 137-15-0.
Pete Plant (Maver) was also on the Beech and had 87-12-0 on shallow caster from peg 20 for second. Over on the Sycamore Tony Foster (PI Bold) recorded a level 86-0-0 at peg 36 for third, with Andy Price (Oakengates Ang Cent ) exactly a pound behind him on 85-0-0 at peg 50.
Sport was slower on the Willows on Sunday and last weeks top scorer Dave Jones (Weston Pools) was able to add another win to his list when he scaled 51-15-0 at peg 9. Shallow pellet put carp to 6lbs in the net for dave. Ed Turner added a second place to his mid week win by recording 49-3-0 at peg 18, Chris Hyde (Wolverhampton) had 45-10-0 fro third at peg 13 and at peg 2 John Newton (Wolverhampton) completed the week with 33-10-0.
