Boldings report

BOLDINGS REPORT  6/9/11.

Eric Bancroft (Rod & Gun) completed a mid-week double at Boldings Pools with wins on Monday and Thursday this week. On Monday he was the only one to top the 100lbs mark on the Beech Pool when he attacked peg 20 with pellet at 8 metres and maggot in the margins to build a 102-7-0 winner with carp to 8lbs.

Dave Matson (R&G) used meat and pellet close in at peg 23 to net carp to 6lbs for 67-12-0 to finish second, Danny Boden (Oakengates Ang Cent) had 61-14-0 for third at peg 11 and Josh Humphries (ABC) was just behind Danny on 60-11-0 at peg 26.

On the Oak on Wednesday Gary Morris (Preston Innov Boldings) continued his run of results by taking top spot. He was on peg 24 and fished at 8 metres and close in using pellet on both lines for 81-13-0 of carp to 6lbs.

Pete Ricketts (New Willenhall) was just round from the point at peg 30 and offered paste shallow and close in to find carp to 9lbs, but not enough of them to catch the winner and finished on 74-1-0.

Two Glynwed men took third and fourth, with Tony Armitage scaling 42-14-0 and Mick Faulkener 40-7-0.

Eric Bancroft collected his second winners purse on after he drew Sycamore 34 on Thursday and employed similar tactics which won on Monday. This time carp to 7lbs and barbel to 2lbs came to the net to add up to 74-15-0.

Following Eric this time was Tony Foster (PI Bold) with a pellet based 49-9-0 at peg 40. Tony had carp to 5lbs and bream to 3lbs at 8 metres and close in. Tony Armitage was third again, having netted 45-13-0 at peg 37, with Howard Williams (Weston Pools) 4th on 41-0-0 at peg 13.

John Francis (R&G) took charge on Saturday with the best weight of the week so far, 119-10-0. Fishing corn to the paddles and in the margins at Hawthorn peg 1, ‘Franner’ picked off carp to 8lbs on his way to victory.

At Hawthorn 3 Lee Atwell (Kingswinford) went for pellet and paste combination to net 87-11-0 for second, and brother Jason Atwell had an Ash Pool top score of 54-2-0 for third, just pipping Jeff Pearson (Wrens Nest) on 53-14-0 opposite him.

Sean Barber (Maver Sonubaits) grabbed the top weight of the week spot by winning on Sunday from Chestnut peg 23. Fishing to the island and into the corner, with pellet produced carp to 9lbs and bream to 3lbs which gave a total of 126-4-0 and maximum Preston league points.

Martin Harrell (Maver) was opposite the point at Chestnut 15 and alternated shallow pellet with close in corn for 95-14-0 of carp to 7lbs for second. Third also came from the Chestnut when Andy Bayliss-Kyte (Maver Sonu) scaled 95-9-0 at peg 21. It was another Maver rod who took 4th when Pete Plant topped the Sycamore list with 89-4-0.

Only two points scorers from last week finished in the Preston points this Sunday, which puts them in first and second places in the table for September.

Chris Holmes finished 6th this week to add 3 points to his maximum 8 of last week, with Andy Bayliss-Kyte adding 6 to his 4 of last week. Sean Barber is third in the list with his 8 points taken this week.
