Boldings report

BOLDINGS REPORT  6/7/11.

Eric Bancroft (Rod & Gun) scored his second successive Monday win at Boldings by topping a tight frame this week on the Willows Pool. Fishing maggot and corn at 4 metres, alternated with dropping a bait in the margins at peg 19 just kept him in front as the match progressed, but there was no time to relax as Eric finished with only two pounds to spare at the whistle, which meant he needed every fish he had in the net.

Eric recorded an all carp 95-7-0 while at peg 13 Mick Jones (Kidderminster) was hot on his heels with 93-7-0, made up with carp to 5lbs and barbel to 2lbs, taken on pellet fished to the paddles.

At peg 7 Colin Reynolds (Bilston Ang Cent) finished on 90-2-0 in third and Josh Humphries (Tricast Weston Pools) had 83-14-0 at peg 9 for 4th.

On the Oak on Wednesday Bob Tromans (Fiery Holes) won a relatively slow match comfortably with 75-5-0. Bob fished into the corner at peg 31 with corn and pellet to pick off carp to 6lbs.

Up at peg 24 Pete Ricketts (New Willenhall) had carp to 5lbs and barbel to 1lb on paste close in, but was 33lbs behind the winner on 42-7-0 at the finish. Over on peg 11 Mick Jameson (Mid Leisure) scaled 39-8-0 to take third with Dave Matson (R&G) getting 4th with his 34-12-0 at peg 22.

Dave Barnard (R&G) upped the pace on Thursday when he drew Sycamore peg 34 and headed a trio of big weights. Carp to 9lbs, bream to 3lbs and barbel to 2lbs all featured in a 142-4-0 net, which came from the 5 metre line and close in.

John Wild (Stafford) was on peg 4 on the Chestnut where paste at 4 metres and in the edge found carp to 8lbs and barbel to a pound to give a return of 124-11-0 for second.

Sean Barber (Maver) completed the three tons from Sycamore peg 49 where he registered 121-1-0 for third, and Eric Bancroft made the frame again, taking 4th with all the eights, 88-8-0 from peg 8.

Jason Elwell (Pro Line Wednesbury) upped the ante again o0n Saturday with the top catch of the week, 155-1-0. Fishing maggot close in throughout the match Jason landed a succession of carp to 8lbs to record his big weight at Beech peg 32.

John Francis (R&G) worked pellet in the side and at 4 metres at Sycamore 25 to find carp to 9lbs and bream to 3lbs to end the match on 100-13-0.

Pete Plant fished caster up in the water at Sycamore 13 for 98-2-0, and a level 73-0-0 gave Mark Foster (PI Boldings) fourth.

Simon Jaques (Marks Tackle) took the lead in the Preston Innovations monthly league for July by recording 128-3-0 at Chestnut peg 37 to win the Sunday open. Corn fished to each side of the peg saw Simon netting carp to 8lbs and bream to 3lbs as he built his winning bag.

Sean Barber made his second frame appearance of the week when his Willows top score of 110-0-0 gave him the runner up spot. He was kept busy with carp in the 3lb bracket, all caught on shallow pellet at peg 9.

Winner of the June league Kel Emlyn (Oakengates Ang Cent) made sure he is in the chase for the July prize by taking third with 99-8-0 from the Chestnut, with fellow OAC rod Steve Roberts picking up 4th thanks to 96-0-0 from the Willows.
