Boldings report

Boldings Report 22/7/09.

Boldings played host to five opens again this week, with Saturday giving the top result, and a close finish featuring two 100lb plus catches.

Andy Bayliss-Kyte (Maver Sonu) got the verdict over Graham Roberts (OB Wolves) but there was only one fish in it. Andy fished up in the water with pellet on the Chestnut Pool, taking carp to 7lbs at 10 metres, to finish on 126-14-0 at peg 32.

Graham used corn and pellet, fished to the paddles, and in the side at peg 1 on the Hawthorn, for carp to 8lbs, but that one fish short left him on 121-3-0. Third placed Neil Mansfield (Wem) wasn’t far behind the top two on 113-11-0 at peg 11 on the hawthorn, and back on the Chestnut, Steve Forest (OB Wolves) had 98-10-0 at peg 30 for 4th.

On Monday Colin Wozak (Telford) put some daylight between himself and the rest of the field when he scaled 91-14-0. Pegged on corner peg 1 on the Acorn, Colin fished to the far side, and into the corner with pellet and corn, picking off carp to 7lbs on his ay to victory.

Peg 7 on the Acorn saw Gary Morris (OBW) take carp to 6lbs on pellet and corn, fished close in, for 74-14-0. On the opposite end of the Acorn from the winner, Carl Foster (OBW) had 70-15-0 in third and Harry Colley (OBW) finished 4th with a Willows best of 61-9-0.

The Ash Pool gave a clear win to Tony Foster (OBW) on Wednesday, when he pulled out a lot of small carp between 1lb and 3lbs, which added up to 97-0-0. Tony was on peg 20, and used pellet to take his fish from up in the water.

Brian Clarke (Maver Midlands) was best man on the Beech, netting carp to 7lbs, caught on corn and pellet close in for 66-15-0 at peg 5, to finish second overall. The two remaining framers came from the Ash, with Mick Jameson (Mid Leisure) scaling 62-6-0 at peg 12 for third and Richard Lawson (Maver) 60-5-0 at peg 16 for 4th.

Steve Forest (OBW) had the first of two frame places on Thursday when he edged out Keith Miller (New Willenhall). Both caught on corn and pellet, and both had carp to 7lbs, each but not from the same pool.

Steve, who was 4th on the Saturday match, took his winning catch on the Chestnut where caught close in from each side of peg 23, for a level 95-0-0.

Keith was on peg 33 on the Sycamore, and he too caught close in from either side of the peg, and finished only 6 ounces behind the winner on 94-10-0.

Back on the Chestnut John Wild (Stafford) scaled 79-6-0 at peg 14 for third, then it was back to point peg 13 on the Sycamore for 4th, when Andy Williams (Vespe) put 76-0-0 on the scales.

The Chestnut and Sycamore were in use again on Sunday and it was the Chestnut which gave the winning weight again, this time for Mondays runner up Gary Morris. He was in the corner at peg 1 and had to deal with carp to 10lbs on his way to 95-8-0. Corn and pellet did the trick again, with fish coming from the 5 metre line, and close in.

Tim Probert (OBW) used the same approach at peg 16 on the Chestnut, and had carp to 8lbs for a final tally of 86-6-0. Close behind Tim, with a Sycamore top weight of 85-5-0 was Ted Ecclestone (Stafford) on peg 13. Fourth placed Dave Emlyn (Oakengates Ang Cent) was also on the Sycamore, and had 77-11-0 at peg 30.
