Boldings report

Boldings Report 14/7/09.

For the first time in four weeks Colin Reynolds was not in the frame on the Monday open at Boldings and Carl Foster (OB Wolves) took on the winners mantle with a ton up catch from the Ash Poll.. Three pegs in a row gave the top three weights, with Carl using shallow pellet tactics at peg 16 to tempt carp to 7lbs to lead the way with 104-14-0.

To Carl’s left, Dave Craggs (OBW) also employed the shallow pellet method at peg 18 to net carp to 5lbs, finishing on 91-8-0 to take second.

Dave Barnard (Rod & Gun) finished second last Monday, this time he was third with 73-8-0, from peg 14, to the right of the winner. Fourth came from the other side of the Ash when Harry Colley (OBW) scaled 66-8-0 at peg 5.

Willows pegs filled the top three places on Thursday, with peg 16 providing Richard Lawson (Maver Midlands) with a winner. Shallow pellet was the winning tactic again, helping Richard to a total of 82-7-0, which featured carp to 7lbs.

Over at peg 8 Mel Kitson (R&G) used pellet and corn for his runner up 70-10-0, which was just enough to beat John Wild (Stafford) on 70-4-0 at peg 5 on the same bank.

Dave Barnard framed for the second time, putting a Chestnut best of 68-13-0 on the scales at peg 30 to finish 4th overall.

Hawthorn pegs filled the frame on Saturday and OB Wolves rods were in the top three places. Tim Probert led the way from peg 9, where pellet and paste, fished at 9 metres and close in picked off carp to 8lbs to give Tim a return of 92-9-0.

On the opposite bank, at the ever reliable peg 3 Phil Rhodes had a level 78-0-0 on corn and pellet for second and almost opposite him, at peg 13, graham Roberts collected third thanks to 75-13-0. Bob Tromans (Fiery Holes) was on peg 1 by the paddles where 69-0-0 gave him 4th.

The Sunday frame was a tight one, with 2lbs covering the top three, which all came from different pools. Frame topper Ed Turner (OBW) was on Sycamore 46 where he fished corn and pellet in the side to find carp to 8lbs on his way to 94-4-0.

Gary Morris (OBW) alternated between close in and the 5 metre line with pellet at peg 4 on the Chestnut to net 93-9-0, and over on Oak Pool Gareth Emlyn netted 92-3-0 for third. That left Dave Matson (R&G) on 85-2-0 to complete the week.

Boldings are staging the Nick Gretton Stillwater Memorial open on Sunday 26th July, draw at 1.45pm. Book with the fishery on 01746 763255.
