Boldings report

Boldings report    22-9-15.

Shorter days and cooler nights are having an effect on sport as the fish begin to adapt to autumn conditions and the Sycamore Pool at Boldings Pools reflected this in the frame weights on Monday.

Phil Shaw [PI Boldings] picked up his second Monday win in two weeks with a catch which was down by over 30% on his previous total. He was on peg 4 and used shallow pellet to bag 61-5-0 of carp in the 4lb bracket.

Corn and pellet at 5 metres and down the edge of peg 39 put Mick Foan [Rod & Gun] in second by snaring carp to 5lbs and bream to 2lbs for a return of 48-8-0. Last weeks runner up Mick Jameson [PI Bold] finished in third by scaling 40-4-0 at peg 20and round at peg 16 Keith Powell [PI Bold] completed the line up with 36-5-0.

Paul Evans [PI Bold] was another competitor to make it two wins in two weeks when he claimed the coin on Wednesday. The Deepdale Pool provided Paul with this win, with his close in attack with caster came up with 78-14-0 of carp to 4lbs at peg 11.

Josh Humphreys [ABC] had carp to 4lbs and bream to 2lbs by fishing maggot to the paddles at peg 14 where he recorded a level 64-0-0. Next to Josh, at peg 13, Bob Tromans [Fiery Holes] weighed 40-15-0 to pip Mick Jameson, who framed again with 39-2-0 at peg 9.

Josh Humphreys hopped to the top on Thursday when the action switched to the Willows Pool and he swapped places from the previous day with Paul Evans, to take the honours with 83-3-0 from peg 9. Fishing up in the water with maggot, combined with regular forays to the inside line, put Josh in touch with carp to 7lbs and barbel to 4lbs.

Paul Evans had a smaller stamp of fish at peg 22, with carp to 6lbs and barbel to 3lbs coming to his caster bait, fished at 5 metres and into the corner. At the weigh in he was left needing one more carp when the needle stopped at 77-11-0.

Over at peg at peg 8, Colin Reynolds [Bilston Ang Cent] put 70-1-0 on the scales for third, and Mick Foan had his second frame of the week with a fourth best 60-4-0.

Andy Kyte [Middle Severn Angling] established the biggest winning margin of the week on Saturday when he finished nearly 54lbs clear of the field on the Larch Pool.

Peg 4 responded to pellet and maggot, fished shallow, with carp to 8lbs building into a 128-2-0 winning net for Andy.

Along at peg 19 Simon Christian [Sedgeley] had carp to 7lbs and bream to 2lbs on caster, presented at 5 metres and down the side to record 74-5-0 and his second successive Saturday runner up finish. Jamie Langford [PI Bold] was close behind second with his 72-8-0 at peg 16, and only one ounce behind him Mick Jameson framed again with 72-7-0 at peg 14.

Colin Reynolds was back in the frame on Sunday, this time in first place and with top weight of the week. Concentrating on fishing to each side of peg 21 on the Chestnut, and ignoring the island, Colin worked with pellet and corn to bring carp to 7lbs and bream to 2lbs to the net for a level 136-0-0.

Mitch Davidson [Oak Ang Cent] had another Sunday second when his close in maggot approach bagged 116-9-0 of carp to 8lbs and barbel to 3lbs at peg 36. Oakengates Angling rods also filled third and fourth places, with Jack O’Sullivan third on 93-12-0 at peg 16 and Kel Emlyn fourth with 81-0-0 at peg 10.
