Boldings report

Boldings report 5-11-14.

Danny Boden [Oakengates Ang Cent] recoded the top weight of the week at Boldings Pools to win the Monday open from peg 36 on the Chestnut Pool. Feeding the 4 metre line with pellet brought in carp to 8 lbs and bream to 3lbs to snap up Danny’s hookbait, and at the end of the match a total of 99-7-0 had been netted.

Mitch Davidson [OAC] had to settle for second for the second Monday running, and for the second time his runner up catch was a pool best. He was on the Sycamore this time, scaling 89-3-0 at peg 21. Colin Reynolds [Bilston Ang Cent] was only a whisker away from second on 88-7-0 at Sycamore 49, and not far behind him on 84-2-0 was Dave Craggs [Maver Midlands] at Chestnut 18.

Tony Foster [PI Boldings] had a first and a second last week, and repeated the feat this week, his win coming on the Wednesday open, which he won by 30lbs. Drawn peg 4 on the Ash, Tony opted for a shallow pellet attack, which resulted in carp to 7lbs making their way towards the weigh in, where they gave a total of 94-10-0.

Harry Colley [PI Bold] teamed meat and pellet to fish close in at Beech peg 7, and tempted carp to 9lbs with bream to 2lbs to end on 64-8-0 in second. Opposite Harry, at Beech 23, Josh Humphreys [ABC] put his name on third with 55-14-0, and round at peg 18 Bob Tromans [Fiery Holes] rounded off the days proceedings with 46-15-0.

The three best weights on Thursday came from the Willows Pool, and the best of these fell to Dave Brown [Maver Midlands] at peg 9. Shallow caster worked well for him, returning 86-12-0 for a reasonably comfortable win.

Two pegs along the end bank, at peg 11, Colin Reynolds made his second visit to the prize list. His pellet bait, fished shallow and down the side, found carp to 5lbs and barbel to 3lbs for 63-11-0. Willows 19 gave Steve Rowland [Stafford] 59-15-0 and third, while a Sycamore best of 53-10-0 from peg 13 put Dave Mortlock [Rugeley] into fourth.

Ken Humphreys [Oswestry] decided maggot was the way to go on Saturday when he drew peg 14 on the Chestnut, and his decision was justified by a winning weight of 86-12-0, which included carp to 8lbs.

Tony Foster had his second place on this match, by landing a Willows best of 76-6-0. He was on peg 16, and had carp to 5lbs and barbel to 3lbs on pellet.

Harry Colley added a third to his earlier second by scaling 65-1-0 at Chestnut 18, and tight behind him was Mark Skelton [OAC] on 64-13-0 at peg 35.
