Boldings report

Boldings report 16-6-14.

It was Dave Matson [Rod & Gun] who claimed the coin on the Monday open at Boldings Pools this week with a pellet and corn in the margins approach at peg 6 on the Larch. Carp to 6lbs responded to the bait combo, and gave Dave an advantage of close on 20lbs when he totalled 80-4-0.

Keith Powell [PI Boldings] also fished pellet and corn at peg 26, to finish second for the second Monday running. He offered it at 5 metres as well as down the side, and like the winner he had carp to 6lbs in his net of 61-1-0, which gave him the runner up prize. At peg 14 Phil Shaw [PI Bold] was a couple of pounds behind second on 59-7-0and at point peg 16 Godfrey Wood [Total Angling] had 53-3-0 in 4th.

On the Chestnut on Wednesday Bob Tromans [Fiery Holes] omitted the corn to just fish pellet at peg 30 on the Chestnut, and had carp to 6lbs with bream  to 2lbs, which returned a total of 76-6-0 and gave Bob top prize.

Across on peg 6 Mick Jameson [PI Bold] had a similar mix of fish on pellet at 5 metres and in the margins to finish second on 70-6-0. Up in the corner at peg 40 Mick Keene [Weston Pools] netted 65-7-0 to finish third and at peg 21 Tony Foster [PI Bold] put his name on fourth by weighing 63-8-0.

Top weight of the week came on Thursday, and was recorded by Andy Williams [Colmic Vespe]. He combined maggot and corn at peg 21 on the Sycamore, taking his fish, carp to 8lbs and bream to 3lbs, from each side of the peg. At the whistle Andy had 113-5-0 in his net to finish clear of Steve Roberts [Oakengates Ang Cent]. He was on Chestnut 18 and used maggot and corn for 89-8-0 of carp to 6lbs and barbel to 3lbs.

Last Thursdays winner Gareth Emlyn [Oak Ang Cent]finished 2lbs behind second on 87-6-0 at Chestnut 35, and back on the Sycamore Paul Evans [PI Bold] scaled 75-2-0 at peg 4.

The Sycamore provided the winner again on Saturday, with peg 13 topping a close frame for Jason Atwell. He fished corn to each side of the point to net 93-5-0 of carp to 6lbs and bream to 3lbs.

On the Chestnut Pool Colin Reynolds [Bilston Ang cent] worked pellet and corn, offering it at 4 metres and down the side, to catch a similar stamp of carp to those of the winner, together with bream to 2lbs. At the finish he could have done with one more of his fish to have been a carp, finishing the day on 90-7-0. Only three ounces behind second was Mondays winner dave Matson on 90-4-0 at Chestnut 30, while at Chestnut 13 Mark Mountford [Shifnal] was 4th on 83-14-0.

After his third place on Thursday Gareth Emlyn moved up to first on Sunday, Making it two Sunday wins in succession. Last Sunday he was on the Chestnut, this time he drew Oak peg 5, where the maggot attack was successful again, attracting carp to 7lbs, which added up to 102-2-0 for a narrow victory.

Dave Hailey [PI Bold] was on Oak peg 8, and kept the pressure on the winner right up to the whistle with a shallow pellet approach. His fish ran a little smaller, with samples to 5lbs giving a final tally of 100-9-0. Mick Jameson made the list again, with a third placed 88-7-0, which put him just ahead of a tie for fourth between Kel Emlyn [Oak Ang Cent] and Thursdays fourth man Paul Evans. They each scaled 87-6-0, Kel at Oak 33 and Paul at Oak 31.
