Boldings report

BOLDINGS REPORT  16-4-14.

Steve Owen [Wolves] opened a week of big weight matches at Boldings Pools by taking the spoils in the Monday open with a net of carp to 8lbs together with bream to 3lbs totalling 123-6-0. The catch came from peg 17 on the Chestnut Pool, and fell to pellet and maggot, which Steve presented up in the water, as well as close in to the bank.

On the opposite side of the pool, at peg 30, last Mondays winner Colin Reynolds [Bilston Ang Cent] had a lot of small carp of around the pound mark, with barbel to 3lbs, on pellet, at 5 metres and in the margins, to weigh 114-4-0, which gave him second.

Phil Shaw [PI Boldings] headed the Sycamore card with 73-3-0 at peg 4 to fill third place overall, while at Chestnut 36, 63-2-0 gave Phil Rhodes [PI Bold] fourth.

Adam Slade [Sedgeley] and Andy Williams [Colic Vespe] were locked in battle on the Wednesday open on the Sycamore Pool, and although Adam posted a huge 153-7-0 to score his second successive Wednesday win, he only had four and a half pounds to spare over last Sundays big weight winner Andy.

The winning bag came from peg 24, where carp to 8lbs fell to pellet and magget, fished shallow, alternated with down the shelf.

At peg 13, Andy had carp to 8lbs and barbel to 3lbs on maggot at 5 metres and in the margins to total 148-15-0. Third went to Tony Foster [PI Boldings] at peg 46, where he weighed 84-7-0, and at peg 8 Mick Keene [Tricast Weston] had 81-4-0 in 4th.

Sycamore 24 came up with another winner on Thursday, when Shane Rogers [Oakengates Ang Cent]included carp to 10lbs, with bream to 3lbs in a bag of 116-12-0. Shallow maggot, and maggot in the side did the trick for Shane.

Gareth Emlyn [Oak Ang Cent] had carp to 8lbs and barbel to 3lbs on maggot at 5 metres and close in for a runner up 105-5-0 at Sycamore 6.

Phil Baird [Ind] pressed Gareth all the way to whistle, finishing only 8 ounces behind on 104-13-0 at Beech peg 32. Back on the Sycamore Phil Foster [PI Bold] completed the frame with 93-15-0 at peg 36.

Andy Williams was back at the top of the frame for his second Sunday win on the trot at the week-end, winning from the ash Pool this time. Maggot was the successful bait again, resulting in carp to 6lbs making up a final score of 98-8-0 at peg 3.

Two pegs along the bank at number 5 Harry Colley opted for pellet and meat close in to find carp to 7lbs, which added up to 90-14-0, the same weight which Andy Kyte [Maver Sonubaits] had at Sycamore peg 2 for a shared second spot. Mark Taylor [Shakespeare] claimed fourth with a Willows best weight of 84-7-0.
