Boldings report

BOLDINGS REPORT  29-1-14.

Having been just pipped to first place last Monday at Boldings Pools, Eric Bancroft [Rod & Gun] made sure of the spoils this week with a 50-1-0 winner, which gave him 13lbs to spare over the rest of the field.

Pegged on Chestnut 30, Eric fed maggot at 13 metres to attract carp to 5lbs which helped him to establish his advantage.

On the opposite side of the pool at peg 18 Mick Jameson [PI Boldings] combined pellet and maggot at metres where he found fish of a smaller stamp than the winner, with carp from 1lb to 4lbs giving figures of 37-2-0.

Just along the bank at peg 14 Chris Holmes [Middle Severn Angling] netted 33-1-0 to put his name on third, with Keith Powell [PI Bold] following on 24-2-0 at peg 7.

Mick Keene [ABC] took on the winners role on Wednesday when the Larch Pool provided the top three weights. Mick was on peg 14 and alternated fishing at 14 metres with offering his pellet bait close to the bank. Carp to 6lbs came from both lines as Mick put together his 61-13-0 winner.

Round at corner peg 21 Howard Williams [Tricast Weston] stayed with the pace for most of the match, but falling 7lbs behind by the finish, ending the day on 54-13-0. Third placed Phil Shaw [PI Bold] had43-2-0 from point peg 16 on the Larch and a Sycamore top weight of 38-8-0 from peg 8 gave Brian Clark [Colmic Marukyu] 4th.

Chestnut peg 30 was a winner again on Thursday when Ken Humphreys [Oswestry] topped a tight frame. He had carp to 5lbs with bream to 2lbs on maggot at 8 metres and in the side to weigh in 43-14-0.

Larch pegs 14 and 21 also made the frame again, with Shane Rogers [Oakengates Ang Cent filling second from peg 14 with 42-11-0 of carp and bream, and just behind him was Dave Lloyd [Maver Midlands] on 41-15-0 at peg 21.

The violent weather on Saturday had some of the anglers seeking the shelter of their vehicles at the height of the storm, which saw the fishery battered by thunder, lightening, rain, hail and gales.

The weather didn’t stop Sean Barber [Maver Sonubaits] from posting top weight of the week though, as his maggot in the margins approach found carp to 6lbs and bream to 2lbs for a total of 77-14-0 at Beech peg 16.

Out on the point at Beech peg 7 Scott Doodson [Preston Innovations] fished pellet at 12 metres as well as to each side of the point to net 65-2-0 of carp to 5lbs to finish second. Brian Clark framed again, taking third this time courtesy of 49-12-0 from Beech 32, which was closely followed by 47-11-0 from Colin Reynolds [Bilston Ang Cent] at peg 23.

Sunday saw Beech peg 7 in the list again, and while it didn’t give as good a weight as the previous day, the level 52-0-0 that Dave Brown [Maver Mid] recorded was enough for a clear win. Dave fished maggot at 13 metres and down the shelf and had all carp in the 1lb to 4lbs range.

The Oak Pool gave the rest of the placings with peg 16 providing Richard Guest [Maver Mid] with second. Like the winner he fished maggot, which he worked at 12 metres as well as close to the bank, and he included carp to 7lbs in a net of 35-4-0.

At peg 1 Steve Lawrence [PI Bold] scaled 27-5-0 for third and not far behind him Colin Wozek [Matrix Total Angling] had 25-14-0 in fourth.
