Boldings report

BOLDINGS REPORT  22-1-14.

The Monday open on the Chestnut Pool at Boldings this week saw a close finish between Dave Doughty [Woodend] and Eric Bancroft [Rod & Gun]. Dave had all carp, with fish to 4lbs, on maggot, fished at the bottom of the shelf at peg 38, to end the day on 35-10-0.

Eric was unlucky in so far as the bream he had along with carp, were of a smaller stamp than usual for the pool at around the pound mark, rather than two pounds. His carp were in the 1lb to 4lbs bracket, which left him on 34-12-0 when the scales settled at peg 28.

Two anglers shared third with 31-2-0 each. Chris Holmes [Middle Severn Angling] had his from peg 18 and Adam Slade [Sedgeley] from peg 30.

Wednesday honours went to Mick Jameson [PI Bold] after he eased to a 12lbs advantage by fishing pellet and maggot to each side of peg 9 on the Middle Pool,  where carp to around 4lbs added up to 48-12-0.

Over on peg 1 ken Humphreys [Oswestry] worked the 8 metre line as well as the margins with maggot for 36-6-0 of carp from 1lb to 3lbs, and at peg 5 Brian Clarke [Colmic Marukyu] had 28-13-0 for third.

Adam Slade drew the same peg on Thursday which gave him third on Monday, Chestnut 30, but this time he finished top of the card. Carp and bream homed in on his maggot bait, with samples to 4lbs and 2lbs coming to the net from close in and at 5 metres, to give a return of 52-15-0.

Last Thursdays winner Howard Williams [Tricast Weston] picked up second this week with a 50/50 mix of carp and bream on maggot for 40-8-0 at Chestnut 32.

At peg 21 John Wild [Stafford] just nicked third by scaling 32-7-0 to hold off Mick Jameson who framed for the second time with his 31-15-0.

Alan Naylor [Oakengates Ang Cent] opted for pellet on Saturday when he drew Oak peg 16, and his choice proved to be the right one by providing the winning weight of the day. Offering the bait at 14 metres Alan found carp to 5lbs for a total of 47-5-0.

At peg 5 on the Beech Dave Brown [Maver Midlands] fished long, down the side with pellet and maggot and had carp to 6lbs with roach to 1lb in his runner up 40-11-0.

Mick Jameson was in the list for the third time, his third best 28-0-0 coming from Beech 18, while back on the Oak Steve Roberts [Oak Ang Cent] finished off the frame with 25-1-0 from peg 8.

Sean Barber [Maver Sonubaits] posted the top weight of week in winning the Sunday open from Larch peg 21. Presenting maggot and pellet down the shelf had carp to 5lbs with bream to 2lbs coming regularly to the net to see Sean pull 25lbs clear of the field with a final tally of 75-12-0.

At peg 13 on the Sycamore Dave Lloyd [Maver Midlands] caught on maggot at 14 metres, and he also had carp and bream, with samples to 4lbs and 2lbs totalling 50-8-0.

Larch peg 14 provided Paul Weaver [PI Bold] with 46-8-0 for third and at Sycamore 8 Scott Doodson [Preston Innov] was a close 4th on 44-10-0.
