Boldings report

BOLDINGS REPORT  5-2-14.

At Boldings Pools Andy Buckley [Shifnal AC] opened the proceedings on Monday from peg 4 on the Stock Pool. Opting to fish long with pellet, Andy found carp in the 1lb to 4lbs range on the 14 metre line and steadily built a winning net of 41-4-0.

Carp, Bream and roach joined forced at Middle peg 1 to give Gary Steele [WAC] the runner up weight. Gary opted for maggot at 13 metres, and was only a couple of fish behind the winner when he scaled 37-4-0.

Third placed Dave Cole [Bronx] was opposite the winner at Stock peg 10, but couldn’t match his catch rate, finishing some way behind on 23-12-0, and next to the winner at peg 3 Keith Powell [PI Boldings] had 18-5-0 in fourth.

In the Wednesday open on the Beech Stuart Aston [Swan] picked up the winners purse after he pulled clear of the rest from peg 26. Carp from 1lb to 4lbs again made up the winning catch, and came to pellet, offered at 10 metres this time. At the finish, Stuart had 34-15-0 to hand over to the scalesman for a comfortable win.

Mick Jameson [PI Bold] kept up his record of framing every week since the first week of the year by filling second spot. He was on peg 18 and worked with pellet and maggot, close in and at 8 metres. Carp to 3lbs gave a total of 23-1-0. Liam Reynolds [ABC] was a pound behind Mick on 22-1-0 at peg 5 and at peg 23 Shane Rogers [Oak Ang Cent] finished off the frame with 20-11-0.

The Hawthorn Pool provided Adam Slade [Sedgeley] with his second win of 2014 on Thursday, when pellet, fished to the island and to open water at 13 metres, put 41-9-0 of carp to 4lbs onto the scales at peg 5. That gave Adam 10lbs to spare over runner up Ken Humphreys [Oswestry] who led a trio of weights from the Middle Pool. Drawn on peg 3, Ken used maggot and corn to tempt carp to 4lbs on the 8 metre line, as well as close in, to finish a clear second on 31-6-0.

In the corner at peg 1 Colin Reynolds [Bilston Ang Cent] scaled 23-15-0 for third ahead of Steve Owen [Wolves] on 21-0-0 at peg 5.

Swapping between the 10 metre and 4 metre lines with maggot at Beech peg 7 saw Kel Emlyn [Oak Ang Cent] take charge of the Sunday open. Carp to 5lbs helped to build the top weight of the week, 47-1-0.

Fellow Oakengates rod Alan Naylor picked up second from Beech peg 16, where he too operated with maggot, fishing at 12 metres and close in. Perch to 3lbs together with carp to the same size added up to 31-11-0.

Third went to the top weight from the Chestnut Pool, which fell to Colin Wozek [Matrix TA] who recorded 28-10-0 at peg 4, and a Sycamore best of 26-11-0 from peg 45 gave fourth to Graham Roberts [PI Bold] .
