Boldings report

BOLDINGS REPORT  27-11-12.

Weights fluctuated with the weather again at Boldings Pools this week, with the earlier matches proving the least productive.

Phil Shaw [Lower Hill] filled top spot on the Larch on Monday, winning from peg 5. Pellet at 7 metres found carp to 4lbs, interspersed with roach to a pound, which took the scales to 46-10-0, which was 12lbs too much for Colin Reynolds [Bilston Ang Cent] at peg 13. Colin had carp to 5lbs on pellet at 4 metres to weigh 34-5-0.

Round at peg 23 Keith Powell [PI Boldings] finished the day on 31-12-0 to pick up third, with Mick Jameson [Mid Leisure] 4th on 26-10-0 at peg 21.

Wednesday was the hardest day and Bob Tromans [Fiery Holes] found his 28-4-0 of small carp, taken on pellet at 6 metres from Middle peg 10 was enough for a narrow victory.

Runner up Carl Foster [PI Bold] had his fish, carp to 4lbs, on pellet and maggot, fished into the corner at Stock peg 6, and was only one fish off victory with 26-10-0. Back on the Middle Pool, Stuart Aston [Swan JT] had 24-4-0 to finish third and 4th came from the Stock when Mark Lloyd [Oakengates Ang Cent] put an even 20-0-0 on the scales.

Top weight of the week came on Thursday and was recorded by Brian Clark [Colmic Marukyu] at Beech peg 23. Ringing the changes between pellet at 5 metres and maggot close to the bank kept carp to 7lbs dropping regularly into the net to give Brian figures of 91-7-0.

Ash peg 9 produced well for Gary Morris [PI Bold] and he stayed in touch with the winner right up to the finish with carp to 7lbs again making up the catch. Gary had his fish on the 8 metre line, and was one fish behind on 88-1-0 at the whistle.

Opposite Gary at peg 14 Adam Slade [Sedgeley] was some way behind on 47-6-0 which just saw him nick third from Alan Jones [Tricast Weston] who had 47-4-0 at Ash 18.

With all the rain many of the pools were flooded on Saturday, so not surprisingly weights dipped again, but Alan Naylor [Oak Ang Cent] still managed a respectable 55-10-0 for victory on the Sycamore Pool. Fishing at 7 metres to the left and right of peg 13, Alan fed maggot and pellet to tempt carp to 5lbs and barbel to 3lbs.

Young Matt Eggerton [Oak Ang Cent] had carp to 6lbs on maggot at 8 metres from peg 49 to put his name on second prize by weighing 43-13-0. Carl Foster was in the list again, picking up third this time with 37-5-0 from peg 8 and Mick Jameson had another 4th when he scaled 31-0-0 at peg 24.

On Sunday corner peg 4 on the Sycamore yielded 84-6-0 of carp to 7lbs and barbel to 3lbs for Phil Taylor [Dams & Locks] to score a clear win. Phil took his catch on maggot, fished at 12 metres.

Sycamore peg 8 was in the frame again, helping Mark Taylor [Shakespeare] to second place. Carp and bream responded to Mark’s maggot and pellet, fished at 8 metres and in the margins, for a tally of 64-3-0. Adam Slade had another third when he weighed in a Beech best of 61-2-0 at peg 16 and at Beech 16 Colin Wozak [Matrix Total Angling] was a close 4th on 59-3-0.
