BOLDINGS REPORT  5-12-12.

 

          Phil Shaw [Lower Hill] scored his second successive Monday win at Boldings Pools this week. The wintry weather brought the average weights down again and 26-12-0 of carp and skimmers on pellet from Chestnut peg 30 was enough for a narrow victory.

          At peg 7 Pete Davidson [Oakengates Ang Cent] also fished pellet to net a mix of carp and barbel to claim second with 25-10-0. At the back of the island, peg 26, Erick Bancroft [Rod & Gun] edged third with 22-10-0, just pipping the 22-6-0 by Jerry Powell [Thomas Telford] at peg 16.

 

          On the Sycamore on Wednesday there was an even closer finish when Stuart Aston [Swan JT] had only 11 ounces to spare when he scaled 35-12-0 at peg 39. Corn at 12 metres put carp to 5lbs on the scales for Stuart.

          Round at peg 49, Dave Cooke [Bronx] had bigger carp on pellet and corn, again  at 12 metres, but at the whistle he was left needing another fish when the scales stopped at 35-1-0.

          Pete Moss [R&G] wasn’t far behind the top two with his 33-2-0 from peg, which left Mick Jameson [Mid Leisure] to pick up 4^th for a level 27-0-0 from peg 31.

 

          Less than a pound separated the top two again on Thursday, but this time they were on two different pools, with the winner coming from the Hawthorn. Carp to 4lbs responded to the pellet offerings of John Wild [Stafford] at peg 3, to give a return of 38-0-0.

          At peg 16 on the Beech Clive Wynn [Tricast Weston] alternated between the close in line and 10 metres out with maggot and pellet to pick off carp to 5lbs, which gave figures of 37-2-0 for second. Third placed Ian Hughes [Drennan NW] had top weight from the Ash, 33-9-0 at peg 16, and next to him on peg 18, Scott Doodson [ Preston Innov] had 31-2-0 in 4^th.

 

          Saturday saw Pete Ricketts [New Willenhall] collecting the winners purse after he netted 32-3-0 of carp to 5lbs using corn and pellet at 10 metres on peg 33 on the Sycamore. A Middle top score of 28-13-0 from peg 10 handed Clive Wynn his second frame placing and on a hard day 18-2-0 was enough to give Andy Bishop [Ind] third.

 

          Top weight of the week went to Simon Richardson [Ironbridge Tackle & Bait] on Sunday, when the Ash Pool gave the top three weights. Simon was drawn on peg 14, and operated with corn and maggot to net carp to 5lbs together with the odd  bream for a total of 54-5-0.

          Along at peg 20 Mark Taylor [Shakespeare] finished a fish behind the winner on 52-11-0, while between the top two, at peg 16, Scott Doodson had his second framing of the week, claiming third this time with 48-14-0.
