Boldings report

BOLDINGS REPORT  15-11-11.

Eric Bancroft (Rod & Gun) posted another Monday win at Boldings Pools this week after a frosty start to the Affordable open. He was on the Oak Pool this time, having won from the Beech last week.

Peg 22 by the island saw Eric fishing pellet at 9 metres to pick off carp to 6lbs which helped him to edge ahead of Gary Morris (Preston Innov Boldings). He was up at the corner of the dam on peg 5, where pellet at 7 metres produced carp to 5lbs. When the scales came to peg 22, Eric was credited with 77-11-0 and when they got to Gary he saw them settle at 72-6-0.

Phil Shaw (Lower Hill) and Russ Allen (Oswestry) exchanged places from last weeks result and Phil took third this time with 70-11-0 at peg 13 and Russ filled 4th with his 44-7-0 at peg 8.

On the Chestnut on Wednesday Ian Hughes (Drennan NW) opted for a shallow maggot approach at peg 36, and the decision proved to be a winning one when he netted 66-3-0 of carp to 5lbs.

Last Wednesdays winner Colin Wozak (Telford) had carp and barbel at peg 10 fishing pellet at 8 metres but fell 10lbs short of the target with a total of 56-10-0. Bob Tromans (Fiery Holes) took home the third prize thanks to 54-8-0 from peg 21 and Bob Stone (Telford) had 47-5-0 at peg 30 to collect 4th.

Mick Keene was one of three Tricast Weston rods in the frame on Thursday, filling the main position courtesy of 75-2-0 from Willows peg 5. Offering pellet at 3 metres and 5 metres put carp to 5lbs and barbel to 2lbs in the winning net.

Tony Foster (PI Bold) prevented a Weston top three when his Sycamore Pool top weight of 66-6-0 put him into the runner up spot. He also netted carp and barbel, which he tempted with pellet at 6 metres and down the side at peg 47.

Howard Williams (Tri West) was exactly 10lbs behind Tony on 56-6-0 at Willows peg 9 and Jeff Harston, who finished third last week, accepted 4th  this time, scaling 55-10-0 at Willows 11.

There was tight finish on Saturday, with 6 ounces separating first and second, with victory just going to Brian Clarke (Marukyu Vespe) at Sycamore peg 5. He landed 40lbs of carp to 6lbs and 30lbs of barbel in the 2lbs class, fishing pellet at 10 metres to weigh in a level 70-0-0.

Over on Chestnut peg 36 Matt Stobbs (Oakengates Angling Centre) worked with maggot at 12 metres and in the side for carp to 7 lbs, to end the day on 69-10-0.

At Sycamore 13 Ricky Ratcliffe (Darlaston) had 61-3-0 for third, ahead of Dave Craggs (Maver) whose 55-12-0 came from Chestnut 16.

Dave Craggs swapped fourth for first the following day, taking top honours from the top number on the Sycamore, peg 50. Taking advantage of the corner position, Dave fished up in the water with caster to attract carp to 6lbs which gave a final score of 87-8-0.

David Emlyn (Oak Ang Cent) added a second to his third in the league match last week, claiming the place with a Chestnut top weight of 69-14-0, taken on shallow maggot at peg 14.

At Chestnut peg 4 Andy Bayliss-Kyte (Maver Sonubaits) recorded 62-4-0 for third and Simon Jaques (Marks Tackle) had 61-13-0 at Chestnut 38 to complete the frame.
