Boldings report

BOLDINGS REPORT 13/7/10.

At Boldings on Sunday this week 129lbs was only good enough for 6th place, and the two point pegs on the Sycamore produced over 350lbs between them.

Sean Barber (Maver Sonubaits)drew point peg 13 and offered pellet, shallow, to attract carp to 8lbs and bream to 4lbs to hammer out 190-0-0 for victory.

On peg 8 Ted Ecclestone (Stafford) worked corn and pellet to each side of the point and found carp to 9lbs  for the biggest runner up weight for some time, 161-15-0.

Gareth Emlyn (Oakengates Ang Cent) must have thought he was in with a shout when he put 143-8-0 on the Scales at Larch peg 1, only to find he had finished in third place. Another pool best from Steve Roberts (OAC) 140-3-0, put him in 4th at Chestnut peg 1. Eric Bancroft (Rod & Gun) had 131-15-0 from Sycamore 42, and Shane Rogers ( OAC Sonubaits) had 129-2-0 from Sycamore 36 to complete the top six and there were at least two more weights of over 115lbs on an outstanding day.

The week at Boldings started with a hundredweight win when Phil Shaw (Lower Hill) pulled clear of the opposition from peg 29 on the Oak Pool. Shallow pellet put Phil in command, with carp to 8lbs totting up to 112-8-0.

Carl Foster (OB Wolves) fished corn and pellet in the side at Oak 23, and had carp to 9lbs in a runner up bag of 86-4-0. Phil Foster (OBW) was over on peg 8 where 75-9-0 gave him third, exactly 1lb in front of Glen Brown (Lilco) on 74-9-0 at peg 26.

The winning weight on Wednesday differed from Mondays by only 1 ounce when Mark Mountford (Shifnal) used paste at 5 metres and close at Beech peg 11 to net 112-7-0 to score a narrow win ahead of Bob Tromans (Fiery Holes). Bob was on Beech 20, and also fished paste to find fish at 5 metres and close to the paddles for 111-0-0.Tony Foster joined Carl and Phil in the weeks prize list with a third placed 100-9-0 from beech 16, with Ralph Johnson ((Bilston Ang Cent) 4th on 89-13-0 at Beech 32.

The pace eased a little on Thursday and Ted Ecclestone was able to claim a win with 75-5-0. He was on Sycamore 36, and had carp to 8lbs on corn, fished shallow, and close in.

Dave Barnard (Rod & Gun) fished pellet at 5 metres and close in at Sycamore 8 to finish second on 71-12-0. Nige Clarke (Fox Match) just nicked third ahead of Ben Brisbourne (Weston Tricast) by 55-7-0 to 55-6-0.

Tony Foster climbed from third in the week to first on Saturday, recoding another big ton in the process. He was on Ash 23 and had a lot of fish in the 2lb to 3lb bracket, with the odd fish of 7lbs on shallow pellet to finish on 162-14-0.

Steve Roberts was in the frame again, moving up to second this time. He had a similar catch  to the winner to record 120-4-0 at Ash 5. Ralph Johnson was another angler framing for the second time, his Beech best of 76-15-0 giving him third, leaving John Francis (R&G) to pick up 4th with his Beech catch of 72-9-0.
