Boldings report

Boldings Report 29/7/08

Tony Foster (OB Wolves) had the best weight of the week at Boldings Pools when he won the Wednesday open from corner peg 30 on the Sycamore. Offering pellet, shallow attracted carp to 9lbs and bream to 3lbs,  which added up to 103-8-0 when the scales arrived.

Matt Stobbs (Rod & Gun) employed the same tactics at another corner peg on the Sycamore, peg 16. Carp and bream responded for him too, but the carp ran a bit smaller, with samples to 7lb, and he finished the match on 87-11-0.

Colin Wozak (Telford) took third with the top weight from the Acorn Pool, 79-6-0, with Bob Tromans (Fiery Holes) exactly a pound behind on 78-6-0 at Sycamore 13.

Mark Mountford (Shifnal) had another winner to add to his ever growing list when he scaled 95-5-0 on Thursday, after drawing another of the corner pegs on the Sycamore, peg 4. Marks choice of paste, fished at 5 metres, brought in carp to 9lbs and bream to 4lbs.

Phil Rhodes (Mid Leisure) was opposite the winner at peg 48, where corn and pellet, close in attracted an all carp 77-0-0, made up with fish to 8lbs.

Mick Williams (R&G) was in the middle of the long bank, at peg 36, and had a level 64lbs for third, and Carl Stringer (Oakengates Angling Centre) added to his run of results with a Willows Pool best of 60-8-0 for 4th.

John Francis (R&G) enjoyed his third successive Saturday win when he tackled peg 35 on the Sycamore with a pellet and corn approach. Alternating between the margins and out at 5 metres kept John ahead of the field, with carp to 7lbs and bream to 3lbs giving a total of 72-11-0.

Harry Colley headed a trio of OB Wolves rods in the remaining places, his 60-9-0 on meat and pellet at Sycamore 16 giving him second, ahead of Dave Craggs on 55-2-0 at Sycamore 13, and Jamie Langford, with a Chestnut best of 52-5-0.

Carl Foster (OB Wolves) finished off the week at Boldings the way brother Tony started it, by picking up a winners purse.

This was a tight frame, with less than 3 lbs between the top four, and only five ounces between 3rd and 4th. Carl topped the card with 86-3-0, which he took on corn close in, and pellet, fished shallow in open water at peg 16, opposite the point on the Chestnut.

Dave brown (Maver) was over on the point at peg 32 and fished at 12 metres with pellet, up in the water to end on 84-10-0. Round past the island, Andy Williams (Vespe) was less than a pound behind Brown on 83-12-0 at peg 21. Fourth man Brian Clarke (Maver) topped the Sycamore card with 83-7-0 to fill 4th spot. Best on the Willows was Gareth Emlyn (Oakengates Ang Cent) on 72-3-0 at peg 19.
