Boldings report

Boldings Report 8/7/08

Mark Mountford (Shifnal) is right back on form, and enjoyed two heavyweight wins at the Week-end, putting the top weight of the week at Boldings on the scales on Saturday. And rattling the 200lbs barrier at Aston Eyre on Sunday.

His win at Boldings came from the Hawthorn Pool, when he fished paste at 5 metres at corner peg 7 to net a load of carp in the 1lb to 4lb range to put together a final total of 125-11-0.

Graham Roberts (OB Wolves) was at peg 5 on the same pool, where corn at 4metres accounted for 102-0-0 of carp to 3lbs, which gave him second. Mel Kitson (Rod & Gun) had a good week with three frame placings. He took third on this one with a Stock Pool top score of 90-8-0, which left Martin Davenport (Dorset Pools) to pick up 4th thanks to 79-1-0 from hawthorn peg 1.

The Stock Pool provided the weeks first match win for Tony Faulkener (OBW) who fished pellet, up in the water at peg 10 for an all small carp 89-14-0.

Down on the Middle Pool, Jack Hailey (OBW) worked corn and pellet in the side, and to the paddles to net 70-9-0 for second. He was matched fish for fish by Phil Shaw (Lower Hill) who was just opposite at Middle peg 11, and had 70-5-0. Also on the Middle, at peg 6, was fourth man Andy Williams (Vespe) on 65-6-0.

The first of Mel Kitson’s frame appearances came on Thursday, and was the best of the three, as he topped a trio of Rod & Gun men in the prize money. Mel fished paste at 5metres, combined with corn and pellet close in at peg 39 on the Sycamore, to pick off carp to 8lbs, on his way to a level 99-0-0.

Dave Matson had carp to 9lbs and bream to 4lbs for 92-3-0 at peg 22 on the same pool to finish in second. Eric Bancroft topped the Chestnut card with 91-9-0 for third, and Andy Williams was fourth again, scaling 82-2-0 at Sycamore 30.

On Sunday the Beech Pool took a turn at providing the winning catch in a closely fought match. Pete Plant came out on top, inching ahead of a tie for second place. Pete fished pellet, up in the water at peg 18 on the Beech to find a lot of carp to 3lbs for 81-2-0.

Eric Bancroft was in the money again, sharing second with Nigel Ball (Mosella). They were both on the Ash Pool, both fished pellet and corn for 79-5-0 each, Eric at peg 5 and Nigel at peg 14. Mel Kitson was there again, netting 76-2-0 at Ash 9 for 4th.
