Boldings report

Boldings report    14-10-15.

Phil Shaw [PI Bodings] scored another double win at Boldings Pools this week, emulating his feat of two weeks ago by taking victory on Monday and Wednesday again.

On Monday he was on the Larch Pool, at peg 23 and used shallow maggot tactics to good effect, bagging a mix of carp to 6lbs, and bream to 2lbs as he put together 91-15-0.

Just along at Larch 26 Owen Boswell [PI Bold] combined maggot and caster to fish at 5 metres, where carp to 7lbs took the bait to give a runner up net of 78-1-0. Over at peg 14, Dave Matson [Rod & Gun] wasn’t far behind second with his 74-9-0, and not far behind him, with a Chestnut Pool top weight of 71-0-0 was Bob Tromans [Fiery Holes].

Shaw was top of the list again on Wednesday, this time at peg 20 on the Beech Pool. Shallow maggot stood him in good stead again, putting an all carp 76-6-0 of fish to 5lbs on the scales, which was too good for Gary Morris at peg 7. Gary worked pellet and maggot at 5 metres for carp of a similar size to those of the winner, but he finished 17lbs short of the mark with a level 59-0-0.

Bob Tromans moved up a place from his Monday finish, taking third this time by scaling 54-13-0 at Beech 9, and Mick Jameson [PI Bold] took over 4th when he weighed 46-2-0 at peg 15.

Jordan Hall [Middy] likes Thursdays at Boldings and booked himself into the top spot again this week when an even 86-0-0 which put him well out of reach of the rest of the field. Alternating between the 12 metre and 6 metre lines with caster brought carp to 5lbs and barbel to 4lbs to the net at Chestnut peg 21 for Jordan.

Up at peg 1 Colin Reynolds [Bilston Ang Cent] used pellet at 5metres and along the side for 49-10-0 of carp to 6lbs and bream to 2lbs to claim second. Jason Nichols [Army Angling] finished third at peg 30 where he scaled 46-5-0, and following him was Graham Roberts [PI Bold] on 39-6-0 at peg 13.

Shallow pellet worked for Mick Keene [ABC] on Saturday when he drew peg 24 on the Larch, producing 100-15-0 of carp to 6lbs, which put him top of the list ahead of two weights from the Willows Pool. Best on the Willows was Simon Christian [Sedgeley] who kept his run of recent successes going by putting 84-10-0 on the sales at peg 4. Barbel to 4lbs and carp to 5lbs made up the catch, which came to caster at 12 metres and 6 metres.

Phil Shaw got in on the act again, adding a third to his two wins by weighing 81-6-0 at Willows peg 8. Back on the Larch Harry Colley [PI Bold] picked up fourth thanks to 78-10-0 from peg 16.

Dave Brown [Maver] has had a run of Sunday wins in recent weeks, and extended his list this week with top weight of the week, when his favourite shallow caster method put him top of a good turn-out for the Denis Whitehouse Memorial match. Carp to 6lbs made up Dave’s 118-4-0 winner at Chestnut peg 30.

Neil Hallet [PI Bold] had carp to 7lbs and barbel to 3lbs on pellet and caster at Chestnut peg 21 for a total of 91-10-0 to put his name on second. Harry Colley framed again, recording an Oak Pool best of 90-3-0 to finish a close third, and Colin Reynolds also had another pick up by topping the Willows card with 81-3-0.
