Boldings report

Boldings report 3-12-14.

Josh Humphreys [ABC Baits] maintained his form at Boldings Pools this week with a win on Monday, a fourth place on Wednesday and a third Thursday to follow up last weeks win and two fourth placings.

Monday saw him pegged on number 7 on the Beech Pool catching carp to 6lbs and bream to 2lbs by fishing pellet and maggot. Switching between the 12 metre line and close in to the side kept Josh ahead of the field, giving a finishing total of 73-6-0.

Runner up Colin Reynolds [Bilston Ang Cent] was on the Oak Pool, at peg 22, and had his fish, carp to 6lbs on pellet at 10 metres. His 64-14-0 gave him plenty to spare over third man Dave Doughty [Woodend] who was up at the end of the dam on Oak peg 1 and scaled 46-4-0 to finish in front of Godfrey Wynn [total Angling] whose level 41-0-0 came from Beech peg 18.

Bob Tromans [Fiery Holes] eased clear of the field on Wednesday to convert a fourth on the previous week to a first this time. He was on peg 1 on the Hawthorn and combined pellet and corn close in and at 10 metres to tempt carp to 7lbs which added up to 71-5-0.

Chris Jones [Carp Crew] also used pellet and corn to fish to the island and down the side at Hawthorn peg 7, where carp to 4lbs gave a return of 48-6-0 for second place. Third placed Brian Vaughan [PI Boldings] had his 34-13-0 from Peg 13, and Josh Humphreys picked up his 4th prize thanks to 31-9-0 from peg 5.

Dave Brown [Maver] added a Thursday win to his successes of last week-end by netting 68-13-0 at Chestnut peg 30. Rotating the 10 metre and 14 metre lines with pellet and maggot kept carp to 7lbs and bream to 2lbs coming steadily to the net to give a total of 68-13-0, which put Dave clear of three weights from the Willows Pool.

Best of these came from Clive Wynn [Tricast Weston] who also worked the 10 and 14 metre lines. He was on Willows peg 4 and had carp to 5lbs and barbel to 3lbs in a level 52-0-0 runner up. Josh Humphreys was there again taking third from peg 13 with 47-11-0, just under a pound ahead of Paul Evans [PI Bold] on 46-12-0 at peg 17.

Paul Wheeler [PI Bold] enjoyed a week-end double, which included the top weight of the week, which came on Saturday, when he drew peg 5 on the Willows Pool. Shallow maggot attracted carp to 6lbs into the swim, and at the whistle Paul had just enough of the them to beat the opposition when the scales settled at 91-1-0.

On the Sycamore Andy Kyte [Middle Severn Angling] decided on a waggler and maggot approach at peg 33, a decision which put carp to 7lbs and barbel to 3lbs on the scales, and which could have resulted in a win if one more of the bigger carp had picked up the bait, as he finished the match on 84-14-0.

Back on the Willows there was the closest of battles for third between Jamie Potts [PI Bold] and Steve Hall [Oswestry] with Jamie scaling 83-5-0 at peg 7 and Steve 83-4-0 at peg 16.

The Willows came up with the winner again for Wheeler on Sunday, and shallow maggot did the trick for the second time. Peg 19 was the scene of this win, with carp to 5lbs and barbel to 3lbs responding to the bait to the bait to give a winning total of 71-7-0.

Less than a pound covered the next three places, with all three coming from the Chestnut. Dave Bowater [PI Bold] squeezed into second with a pellet and maggot based 53-14-0 at peg 30. Scott Doodson [Preston Innov] netted 53-5-0 at peg 10 for third, and Mark Skelton [Oakengates Ang Cent] had 53-1-0 at peg 7 to pick up fourth.
