Boldings report

Boldings report 10-9-14.

Dave Matson [Rod & Gun] got point peg 13 on the Sycamore Pool at Boldings back on track as a hot spot by finishing clear of the field in the Monday open this week.

Fishing caster and pellet to each side of the point, Dave netted carp to 7 lbs and bream to 3lbs on his way to 114-7-0.

Over in the corner at peg 30 Eric Bancroft [Rod & Gun] worked pellet at 5 metres and in the margins to tempt carp and barbel, with fish of 8lbs and 3lbs respectively adding up to 92-14-0 to give Eric second. Up at peg 49 Harry Colley [PI Boldings] put his name on third with 87-9-0, leaving Mick Jameson [PI Bold] to take home fourth prize for his 71-15-0 from peg 8.

For the second week running father and son duo Josh and Ken Humphreys [Oswestry/ ABC Baits] claimed the top two places in the Wednesday open, with Josh taking over from his dad as the winner this week. He was drawn on peg 5 on the Beech Pool and bagged carp to 8lbs with pellet and corn, fished at 4 metres and in the side, to end the match on 104-14-0.

Ken was on peg 11 and had his fish, carp to 5lbs, on maggot and pellet at 6 metres and close in, to weigh 80-13-0. Close behind Ken, on 78-8-0 at peg 32 was Bob Tromans [Fiery Holes] and at peg 26 Paul Eckersall [Garbolino Elton] scaled 57-10-0 in fourth.

Andy Williams [Colmic Vespe] posted top weight of the week in winning the Thursday match with 129-0-0. The catch came from peg 38 on the Chestnut, and consisted of carp to 8lbs with bream to 3lbs, which fell to corn and maggot, fished on the inside line.

Josh Humphreys added a second to his win of the previous day, with a mix of carp and barbel weighing 113-1-0 at peg 9. Fish of 7lbs and 3lbs came to maggot and pellet at 5 metres and down the edge. Third went to a net of 101-4-0 by Terry Edwards [Kings] at peg 26, and Eric Bancroft was in the prizes again, his 97-1-0 from peg 30 taking fourth.

Andy Kyte [Middle Severn Angling] opted for a paste attack on Saturday after he drew peg 16 on the Larch, and the decision proved to be correct by giving him a winning margin of over 35lbs. Fishing the bait close in put Andy in touch with carp to 7lbs, and at the whistle he had 126-15-0 in his net.

Mick Jameson made his second trip of the week to the prize table by taking second with the best catch from the Willows Pool, 91-7-0, made up with carp to 8lbs, caught on pellet at 5 metres and close at peg 18. Third came from the Larch when Steve Eckersall [Garbolino Elton] weighed a level 86-0-0 and back on the Willows, Phil Foster [PI Bold] scaled 80-5-0 to fill fourth spot.
