Boldings report

Boldings report 2-7-14.

Dave Matson [Rod & Gun] had consecutive wins at Boldings Pools this week, heading the card on the Monday and Wednesday opens, both with ton up bags.

Unusually the Monday win came from the Acorn Pool, where dave drew peg 5, which he tackled with pellet at 5 metres for a haul of carp to 7lbs totalling 111-10-0.

Phil Shaw [PI Boldings] worked with shallow pellet at peg 16 on the Willows Pool, and had ghost carp to 6lbs in his runner up 107-1-0. On the other side of the Willows at peg 5 Colin Reynolds [Bilston Ang Cent] came home third on 96-10-0, edging out Eric Bancroft [Rod & Gun] whose 95-4-0 came from Acorn peg 10.

Wednesday saw Matson in action on the Oak Pool where pellet at 5 metres, and down the side at peg 31, produced another catch of carp to 7lbs, which this time added up to 121-3-0.

Mark Mountford [Shifnal] was along at peg 24 and combined pellet and paste, at 5 metres as well as close in, to bag 113-7-0 of carp to 8 lbs to claim second.

Over on peg 8 Phil Shaw was in the list again, his 87-7-0 giving him third, ahead of Mick Keene [Weston Pools] who had 73-6-0 at peg 22.

Gareth Emlyn [Oakengates Ang Cent] topped a tight frame on Thursday from peg 4 on the Sycamore. Barbel to 3lbs joined carp to 7lbs in Gareth’s net after they snapped up his maggot bait, fished into the corner. At the finish he had netted 90-11-0 which was two and a half pounds too good for Dave Craggs [Maver Midlands] at Larch peg 16. dave operated with shallow caster and included carp to 6lbs in second best bag of 881-0.

Back on the Sycamore, Morgan Davidson [Oak Ang Cent] had 79-1-0 for third at peg 33 and at peg 18 John Cockayne [Lichfield] finished things off with 72-7-0.

Top rod on a fairly subdued Saturday was Andy Kyte [Maver Sonubaits] who topped an all Sycamore frame from peg 30. pellet down the side, and at 5 metres found carp and barbel, with samples to 6lbs and 3lbs returning 79-8-0.

Colin Reynolds had another placing, picking up second this time with a mix of carp to 5lbs and bream to 2lbs, giving a weight of 72-6-0 at peg 16. 67-9-0 from point peg 13 gave Mark Taylor [Shakespeare Vespe] third, and Dave Matson added a fourth to his earlier wins by scaling 65-1-0 at peg 21.

Dave Hailey [PI Bold] already has a few top weights of the week to his name this year, and extended the list on Sunday when he left the rest some way behind, to score his second successive Sunday win

Pegged on number 1 on the Larch, Dave had a busy time with carp from 1lb to 4lbs using shallow pellet tactics to build his 163-5-0 winning net.

Andy Kyte followed up his previous days win with a runner up spot, and an improved weight of 120-14-0. Andy caught on shallow pellet, as well as close in tactics at peg Larch 23.

Over at peg 8 last Saturdays winner Steve Roberts [Oak Ang Cent] was a close third with 119-7-0, and Mark Taylor had another frame with 97-6-0 in fourth.
