Boldings report

BOLDINGS REPORT  6-8-13.

Josh Humphreys [ABC] built on his success of last week at Boldings Pools by adding another win to his list with victory on the Monday open, held on the Chestnut Pool this week.

Drawn on peg 9 Josh worked shallow pellet in open water, combined with forays to the close in line with maggot and corn. The resulting net of carp to 7lbs gave a total of 93-0-0.

Close behind the winner, Colin Reynolds [Bilston Ang Cent] included 30lbs of bream to 2lbs with carp to 6lbs for 92-1-0 at peg 15. Colin caught on corn and maggot down the shelf. Dave Matson [Rod & Gun] kept his revival going with a third placed 75-13-0 from peg 36, and right opposite him at peg 5 Martin Jenkins [Wolves] had 49-7-0 in 4th.

Matt Stobbs [Oakengates Ang Cent] scored his second Wednesday win in two weeks after he drew peg 5 on the Ash this week. Shallow pellet tactics attracted a lot of carp in the 1lb to 3lbs range to give a winning 113-1-0.

Pete Davidson [Oak Ang Cent] presented paste at 5 metres and down the side at peg 18 on the Ash and found carp to 7lbs for a weight of 100-5-0 to pick up second.

Mick Jameson [PI Boldings] had top weight from the Beech to take third, his 90-7-0 coming from peg 3. Back on the Ash Liam Reynolds [Oswestry] netted 84-9-0 from peg 7 to finish 4th.

Weights dipped on Wednesday and Howard Williams [Tricast Weston] won with 71-5-0 from Sycamore peg 33, a mix of carp to 7lbs and bream to 2lbs, all caught close in on pellet.

On the Chestnut, Paul Gregory [Swan Elite] had a similar mix of fish for his runner up 70-4-0 at peg 23. Paul also fished pellet, to hook fish on the 5 metre line, as well as close in.

Steve Roberts [OAC] fished corner peg 40 on the Chestnut to finish third with a weight of 67-6-0, and Mick Jameson made the list again, finishing second on the Sycamore and fourth overall with 58-7-0.

Ian Morris [OAC] made the most of point peg 13 on the Sycamore on Saturday to record his first win at Boldings. Offering pellet, up in the water, he enticed carp to 7lbs to feed and give a winning net of 95-6-0.

Over at corner peg 18 Dave Craggs [Maver Midlands] worked shallow caster, both in open water and in the margins, to find carp to 8lbs and bream to 2lbs to finish on 91-15-0. That put him one fish ahead of Colin Wozek [Matrix TA] at peg 16 where the scales settled at 89-14-0. Steve Roberts framed again, taking fourth via 79-2-0 from peg 3.

Shane Rogers [OAC] and Gareth Emlyn [OAC] both used close in maggot tactics on Sunday and both caught carp and barbel from the Sycamore Pool, matching each other fish for fish throughout the match. In the end it was a slightly better stamp of fish by Shane which swung the result his way, with carp to 9lbs with barbel to 3lbs adding up to 151-9-0 at peg 39.

Gareth had carp to 8lbs with his barbel to 3lbs at peg 13, which left him a whisker behind on 151-0-0. Steve Roberts collected for the third time, his 137-4-0 from Sycamore 48 giving him another third prize. Fourth man Dave Hailey [PI Bold] had the top catch from the Willows Pool, 134-2-0 from peg 11.
