Boldings report

BOLDINGS REPORT  17-7-13.

Clive Wynn [Tricast Weston] posted a big score of 139-12-0 to win the Monday open at Boldings Pools from corner peg 40 on the Chestnut Pool. Fishing in close with pellet  brought in carp to 8lbs accompanied by bream to 2lbs, to build the winning catch.

Josh Humphries [ABC] fished to the island with maggot and corn from peg 21 to pick off carp and barbel, with samples to 7lbs and 3lbs adding up to 117-0-0, giving Josh second place. Last Wednesdays winner Carl Foster [PI Boldings] also fished to the island from peg 23 to net his third best 107-11-0 and at peg 30, Dave Matson [Rod & Gun] kicked off a successful week with a fourth place by weighing 78-3-0.

Dave Matson moved up to top spot on Wednesday for the first of two wins, when a maggot and corn approach at peg 16 on the Ash put 82-5-0 on the scales. Carp to 5lbs and bream to 2lbs moved in on the bait, which was presented close in, to each side of the peg.

Josh Humphries finished second again, his mainly small carp catch of 71-9-0 falling to shallow pellet at Ash peg 3.

Third man Phil Shaw [Lower Hill] had the top catch from the Beech Pool, 69-14-0 from peg 23, then it was back to the Ash where Carl Foster framed again with 67-0-0 from peg 5.

Last weeks top scorer Gareth Emlyn [Oakengates Ang Cent] took the coin on the Thursday open this week, winning from the Oak Pool, ahead of three weights from the Sycamore. Carp to 6lbs as well as barbel to 2lbs zeroed in on Gareth’s close in maggot offerings, to give figures of 87-4-0.

Colin Reynolds [Bilston AC] was the first of the three ‘framers’ on the Sycamore, his pellet based level 74-0-0 coming from peg 30. Not far behind Colin was Paul Evans [PI Boldings] on 68-13-0 at peg 21, and close behind him was Andy Varden [Wolves] with an even 68-0-0 at peg 36.

Dave Matson had his second win of the week on the Saturday match, taking the laurels from point peg 8 on the Sycamore. Maggot and corn worked again to produce fish from each side of the peg for a 79-12-0 winner.

Sycamore 24 has featured in quite a few frames this year and was there again, as was Colin Reynolds, who collected his second runner up of the week by scaling 78-1-0.

Third went to Tony Foster [PI Boldings on 62-4-0 at peg 50 and at peg 34 Pete Ricketts [New Willenhall] had 59-1-0 for fourth.

Dave Hailey [PI Bold] had top weight of the week for the second time this month when he blitzed the fish at Sycamore peg 21 on Sunday to the tune of 178-14-0. Carp to 7lbs homed in on Dave’s shallow pellet bait to give the big weight.

Scott Doodson [Preston Innov] also used shallow pellet to hammer out 142-0-0 of carp and barbel from Willows peg 16 to finish second. Back on the Sycamore Gareth Emlyn was in the prize list again, claiming third with 120-9-0 from peg 33 and at peg 8 Dave White [|Maver Midlands] completed an all ton frame with 108-8-0.
