BOLDINGS REPORT  10-4-13.

The Easter Monday open at Boldings Pools gave a close finish, with only just over a pound between first and third.

Matt Stockton [Maver] collected the winners purse by putting 63-4-0 on the scales at Beech peg 11. His fish, carp to 5lbs, were taken on corn, fished at 5 metres and metres.

On the Ash Pool Colin Wozek [Maver Total Angling] finished only 12 ounces short of the target when his net of carp to 4lbs, taken at 12 metres and close in, came to 62-8-0 at peg 9 on the Ash.

Seven ounces behind Colin was Tony Woolaston [Fatty’s Tackle] on 62-1-0 at Beech 16, and a Sycamore best of 57-8-0 saw Ian Hughes [Brennan NW] into 4th.

Three different pools gave the top three weights on Thursday, with Hawthorn 3 providing a winner for Eric Bancroft [Rod & Gun] who had a mixture of silver fish and carp to 4lbs, totaling 55-8-0. The catch came to pellet and maggot, fished at 10 metres.

Ash peg 9 gave second again, this time for Colin Reynolds [Bilston Ang Cent] who went out to 14 metres with corn and pellet for 46-13-0 of carp to 3lbs. Deepdale peg 5 came up with 42-11-0 for third placed Ken Humphries [Oswestry] and at Hawthorn 13 Matt Stobbs [Oakengates Ang Cent] had 41-13-0 in 4th.

Terry Edwards [Kings] is having a good run at Boldings, and extended it on Saturday with a win from the Chestnut Pool. He drew island peg 26 and fished to the island with corn and pellet to pick off carp to 5lbs on his way to a level 73-0-0.Around the island at peg 21 Rob Hancox [Kings] used similar tactics to the winner to find his runner 63-3-0. Tony Foster [PI Boldings] had a Larch top score of 60-14-0 to take third and a Beech best of 46-2-0 handed 4th to Simon Jukes [PI Bold].

With the weather we have been having if you beat the hundred pound mark you don’t expect anyone to finish anywhere near you, but that wasn’t the case on Sunday when Kel Emlyn [Oak Ang Cent] had Steve Owen [Mid Leisure] chasing him all the way to the whistle.

Kel was on peg 3 on the Beech and fished to the paddles at 14 metres with corn and pellet, which attracted carp to 6lbs, a steady supply of which gave final figures of 113-11-0.

Steve was on the Ash Pool at peg 5, where pellet at 12 metres had carp to 5lbs feeding, but the smaller size left him 7lbs short on 106-8-0. Third man Matt Djukic [Maver] lead the way on the Chestnut to finish in third on 87-8-0 and Richard Duke [Bridgnorth AS] made it four different pools in the frame with his 82-0-0 from the Larch.
