Boldings report

BOLDINGS REPORT  19-3-13.

Blizzard conditions at Boldings Pools caused the cancellation of the Monday match, but things were better on Wednesday, and despite the influx of snow water, the beech Pool came up with 60lb winner.

Mick Jameson [Mid Leisure] was the man to finish in top spot, his 60-1-0 on pellet and maggot from peg 7, giving him a clear margin over runner up Ian Hughes [Drennan NW] who was on peg 16, to the left of the winner. Ian also offered pellet and maggot to net 37-2-0. Two pegs along from him, Ken Humphries [Oswestry] scaled 28-9-0 at peg 18 to claim third, and at peg 23 Mark Taylor [Shakespeare] weighed in 27-10-0 to round off the frame.

The Thursday match gave a close frame, with Eric Bancroft [Rod & Gun] nicking first place by 10 ounces from Joe Brennan [PI Boldings]. Eric fished maggot to each side of peg 23 on the Ash to attract carp to 4lbs to build his 35-12-0 top weight.

Joe also attracted carp to 4lbs at peg 3 on the Oak using maggot. He offered the bait at 10 metres, and alongside the dam wall to find his fish, and was left needing one more small fish when he saw the scales stop at 35-2-0. The Oak gave third and fourth too, with third going to Jordan Hall [Maver Midlands] on 34-6-0 at peg 16, and 33-13-0 from peg 24 gave last Thursdays winner Colin Wozak [Matrix Total Angling] fourth.

Nige Clarke [Matrix] added another win to his list on Saturday, taking victory at Sycamore peg 8. Pellet and maggot was the winning bait again, and Nige presented it at 8 metres, as well as to each side of the point. Carp and bream responded, with carp to 6lbs and bream to 3lbs adding up to 54-10-0.

Dave Brown [Maver Midlands] was close behind in second with a Chestnut top score of 53-9-0. He caught on maggot and pellet too, taking carp to 7lbs and barbel to 3lbs from the 12 metre line as well as close in at peg 32.

Mark Taylor framed again, finishing third this time by scaling 47-1-0 at Sycamore 16. Fourth went to Dave Craggs [Maver Midlands] at Sycamore 33, where he weighed in 37-9-0.

Phil Taylor [Dams & Locks] had top weight of the week to win on Sunday, but the finish was even closer than the Thursday result, with Phil finishing just 9 ounces ahead of second. He was on Oak peg 31, and decided on a bread punch attack on the close in line. There he found carp to 5lbs and bream to 2lbs lurking, and he took a haul weighing 64-13-0,

Over on peg 11 Clive Wynn [Tricast Weston] fed pellet to each side of his peg to find carp to 6lbs with barbel to 2lbs which gave him a tally of 64-4-0. Mick Jameson was in the prize list again, picking up third thanks to 51-8-0 from Oak peg 22. Fourth man Rino Stanko [Oakengates Ang Cent] had a beech best of 50-5-0 from peg 18.
