Boldings report

BOLDINGS REPORT  15-1-13

Eric Bancroft [Rod& Gun] made it two Monday wins on the trot when he took the honours on the first match of the week at Boldings this week. Having won with 25lbs to spare last week, Eric’s margin was less than a pound this week, and less than 3lbs covered the top four. He was on peg 11 on the Hawthorn Pool, and fished to the island with maggot, which was snapped up by carp to 4lbs and a surprise big perch of 3lbs 2ozs, which together totted up to 35-13-0.

At peg 9. Mick Jameson [Mid Leisure] offered pellet to the island, as well as down the side, and almost matched the winner, to finish on a level 35-0-0. Carl Foster [PI Boldings] was a close third with a Beech best of 34-7-0 at peg 16 and Richard Duke was only 7ozs behind him on 33-0-0 at Beech 7.

The tight frame trend continued on Wednesday and maggot proved top bait again to give Joe Brennan [PI Bold] small advantage of in form rod Gay Morris [PI Bold].

Joe peg 36 on the Chestnut which yielded carp to 4lbs and bream to 2lbs from the 7 metre line for a return of 43-2-0. At Larch peg 4 Gary presented pellet at 8 metres, which produced slightly bigger fish, carp to 5lbs, but not enough of them, and he scaled 41-7-0.

Last Wednesdays winner Tony Moreton [ Preston Innov] claimed third this time, having 40-2-0 at Larch peg 1, and at peg 21 Andy Williams [Colmic Vespe] had 32-7-0 for 4th.

Andy Williams jumped from 4th to 1st on Thursday when he found carp to 5lbs with maggot, fished down the shelf at Ash peg 20. When the scales arrived, Andy slipped the top weight of the week, 52-14-0, into the weigh tub.

At peg 1 on the Hawthorn, Pete Ricketts [New Willenhall] fished to the paddles with pellet and maggot to net 49-7-0 of carp to 6lbs to finish second. Eric Bancroft was in the prize list again, collecting third with his Beech best of 44-9-0 from peg 7, and 37-6-0 from Beech 23 saw Gary Morris in the frame again.

Mick Jameson improved on his mid week runner up to win the Saturday match from peg 7 on the Chestnut, where carp and bream responded to maggot at 8 metres for a weight of 45-7-0, which gave Mick the biggest winning margin of the week, as runner up Dave Brown [Maver Midlands] scaled 49-7-0. Dave was on Larch 23 and had to go out to 16 metres to find his fish, carp to 5lbs.

A level 36-0-0 from Larch 16 gave Ken Humphries [Oswestry] third, closely followed by Colin Reynolds [Bilston Ang Cent] on 35-11-0 at Chestnut 30.

Andy Williams notched up his second win of the week on Sunday, when the cold conditions were made tougher by an east wind. Maggot dominated again, with Andy offering it at 6 metres and 12 metres from peg 20 on the Ash, to ease out 29-3-0.

Kelvin Emlyn [Oakengates Ang Cent] fished to the paddles with maggot at Ash 23 for his runner up 25-11-0, which just edged out the Beech best of 25-6-0 from Andy Price [OAC]. Fourth also came from the Beech when Chris Jones [Carp Crew] weighed in 23-9-0.
